Chapter 1: Midnight Visitor.
The clock struck 9:00 PM on the dot in the picturesque town of Boulder's Bend. In the tranquil neighborhood, a woman strolled along the sidewalk, enveloped by lush green trees, wrought-iron gates, and charming fences. The woman, a vision in her late thirties with a height of 5 feet 8 inches, possessed the classic features of a Caucasian beauty. Her shoulder-length hair cascaded in gentle waves, a luminous shade of light brown complementing her piercing light brown eyes.
Carrying a petite square cardboard box, the woman walked alone with a newborn baby boy soundly sleeping inside. Occasionally, she cast furtive glances over her shoulder to ensure she wasn't being trailed.
She strolled onward until reaching a quaint house. Following the winding path, she ascended the front porch steps gracefully, crossing the wooden planks to the entrance. With steady hands, she delicately placed the small square cardboard box on the porch floor. As she lifted the lid of the petite square cardboard box, a heartwarming sight greeted her - her precious newborn son nestled inside, peacefully asleep. He was snugly swaddled in a cozy baby blanket, dressed in a tiny diaper, and a soft sleeper.
With gentle care, she cradled her newborn son in her arms, tears streaming down her face. She wept as she embraced her slumbering baby boy, then tenderly laid him back in his makeshift bed, gently closing the lid of the small cardboard box.
Rising from the creaky front porch floor, she gently tapped on the front storm door and pressed the doorbell. Slowly retreating from the tiny cardboard box, she began strolling away.
As Kathy Potter, a single woman, gracefully descended the stairs, her age of 47 years left footprints behind her. Standing tall at 5'8, with the elegance of her Caucasian complexion, Auburn hair, and captivating Hazel eyes, she made her way in comfortable attire - underwear, pajamas, and a warm robe. With each step, she moved through the living room, heading towards the back front door. Upon her arrival, she effortlessly flicked the front porch light on, illuminating the path ahead.
Unlocking the front door, she swung it open and peered out from behind the screened storm door, scanning the front porch. As she approached the front door, she didn't see anyone and was about to close it..
Suddenly, she heard a muffled whining and quickly opened the front door. As she peered down, she noticed a small square cardboard box. Gingerly opening the storm door, she reached down to pick up the small square cardboard box. Casting a furtive glance around to ensure no prying eyes were on her, she swiftly carried the box inside her humble abode.
As she shut the front door, the ambiance of the living room shifted when she flicked on the light. With gentle steps, she approached the couch, cradling the box in her arms. Setting it down carefully, she seated herself next to the modest cardboard container. Anticipation mounting, she delicately lifted the lid of the tiny box.
Kathy was astounded to discover a Newborn Infant Baby Boy peacefully slumbering in the box. Nestled beside the baby, she noticed a neatly folded note. With curiosity piqued, she reached for the note, gently unfolded it, and began reading its contents.
"To the person that might be reading this,
My name is Mary Hatcher, I'm writing to ask you,
To take care of my Newborn Baby Boy, I didn't know what to do, or who to turn to,
I hope that he'll understand what I've done for him,
Please take care of him".
After reading the letter, Kathy was taken aback. Among the contents she discovered in the small cardboard box with the newborn infant baby boy were diapers, sleepers, wipes, pacifiers, and various other items.
As the Newborn Infant Baby Boy began to stir, his cries filled the room. Kathy, with a heart full of love, lifted him up, cradling him in her warm embrace. With care in her eyes, she decided to give him a name.
"There, there, Barry. Everything will be alright," Kathy whispered reassuringly. "Mommy is here, cradling you in her arms, gently easing away your worries and fears."
As Baby Barry began to settle, he slowly opened his bright eyes, gazing up at her with a newfound serenity. With a gentle coo, he expressed his contentment. She then carefully attended to changing his soiled diaper. Preparing a warm bottle of milk in a baby bottle, she reached for a burping rag and placed it delicately on her shoulder. Taking a seat on the cozy couch, she began to feed Baby Barry the bottle of milk. As he eagerly sucked on the baby bottle nipple, he gazed up at her with adoration shining in his eyes.
With a gentle burp, she cradled him in her arms and ascended the stairs, traversed down the hallway, and entered the serene master bedroom. With a purposeful stride, she made her way to the bed where she carefully prepared a cozy spot just for him, all the while keeping a secure hold on him. Gently, she laid the baby down on the soft bed, tenderly placing a pacifier in his mouth. As he started sucking on it, she laid down beside him and drifted off to sleep. Soon, Baby Barry began to doze off as well.
The following morning, Kathy made a life-changing decision to adopt Baby Barry. She started the day by enjoying a nutritious breakfast, carefully tending to Baby Barry's needs. She lovingly changed his diaper and dressed him in a fresh, cozy sleeper. After securing him in an infant car seat, she fastened the buckles snugly, ensuring his safety. Before setting off, she placed a soft yellow Duck Lovey in his tiny grasp, providing him with comfort and security. She gently wrapped him in a soft blue baby blanket, pulling the hood snugly over his head. Cradling the infant car seat, she stepped out of the house and made her way across the front porch, carefully descending the front steps. Heading towards her sleek red 4-door Toyota Camry, she approached the front passenger side door and swung it open with a sense of purpose.
Placing the Infant Car Seat on the front passenger's seat, she watched as Baby Barry began babbling in his adorable baby language.
With a tender smile, Kathy whispered to the infant, "That's right, sweetheart. We're off on a little adventure in the car, heading towards the grand brick building. That's where Mommy is going to officially welcome you into our family." As she secured the infant car seat, a sense of excitement filled the air.
After closing the front passenger side door, Kathy gracefully sauntered around the sleek vehicle, heading towards the enticing driver's side door. With a sense of eagerness, she effortlessly swung open the driver's side door, settled into the cozy driver's seat, and closed the door with a satisfying click before smoothly driving off.
About an hour later, Kathy arrived at the courthouse with Baby Barry in tow. Stepping inside the grand building, Kathy began recounting the extraordinary tale of discovery involving a small cardboard box, the precious Baby Barry, and a heartfelt note nestled inside. Her narrative unfolded until she was finally granted permission to officially adopt Baby Barry. Overwhelmed with joy, Kathy embraced her newfound role as a mother.
Another hour later Kathy took her adopted newborn infant adopted son back to their home, she was having dinner to celebrate.
