Chapter 1

Dark quiet hallways. Lights flickering on and off. No one in sight except for a tall dark silhouette wearing a black mask with a smile on the front of it. The silhouette goes down one of the many dark halls of the old building their in and walks towards a teen boy sitting in a rusted redish brown chair. The screams and cries of the teen boy ring out throughout the building and then everything goes black.

"AAAAHHH!!!!" screams ring out and feels a loud thud after falling out of bed. Krystal Hastings, 19 years old, had woken up for the fourth time in the past week having a horrific nightmare. Quick footsteps are heard running to Krystal's bedroom door as her mother, Andrea, hurries in.

"Sweetheart, are you alright?" She asks as she helps Krystal up off the floor and sits her on her bed.

"Yeah mom i'm fine, just had another nightmare" Krystal replies as she grabs a water bottle on her nightstand and takes a sip.

"You've been having an awful lot of bad dreams lately dear. You should talk to your father about it in the morning" Andrea suggests.

"I will mom" Krystal replies and hugs her mom. Her mother hugs her back and leaves her room to go back to sleep. Krystal grabs her phone and checks the time. 3:05 A.M., how ironic to have a nightmare at the devils hour. She goes through her phone contacts and clicks on her friend Jakob's number and rings the number. Few seconds later, he picks up.

"Hey Krys, had another nightmare i'm guessing?" Jakob asked. He had always called her Krys since they were little, they had went to school together first meeting in 3rd grade. She always called him when she had nightmares because he was the only one she could fully open up to and talk to about anything.

"Yeah i did. I don't get why i keep having them, their so freaky." She tells Jakob over the phone.

"I bet. You know, nightmares usually happen from a traumatic experience in that person's life. Have you been through anything traumatic?"

"No, i haven't, unless you consider your parents complaining about your grades traumatic" Laughs ring out as both Krystal and Jakob start laughing.

"Well, i'm gonna go back to bed now" Krystal says.

"Alrighty then. Night!" Jakob hangs up and Krystal puts her phone away and lays back down in bed. She thinks to herself if she should tell her dad about her nightmares or not, her father Louis works at Pennhurst Psychiatric Hospital, he knows a lot about nightmares and how they work, maybe he could help her get them to go away. She puts her bed sheets over her warm body as she eventually drifts back off to sleep.

Taste of Passion

musa moo: Its a sweet story. The writing is very good. The only thing I found wanting was the structurisation. Whenever there was a change in scenario or situation, I wish there was some kind spacing or something to indicate that there's a change ahead. Because of that it became a bit confusing in the middle ...
