Chapter I: The Beginning
Magnet man held both of his katanas and rushed at the horde of zombie minions. Right next to him was Leo Cooper, a former army marine, his best friend Stickman, who fights with a bow, Windforce, the wind mage, Bob the pilot, William the former bandit, and Erwin Cooper, the theoretical physicist and brother of Leo Cooper. They had just stolen the beacon generator and were fighting their way back to their helicopter.
Six months ago, when the world was not in an apocalypse, people were living their normal lives. But on July 1st, 2013, a cosmic entity entered Earth. He infected the mind of a person and drove him mad. Then, the entity used his power to spread its influence around him. Whenever someone gets scratched or bitten by the infected, or has direct contact with infected bodily fluids, the cosmic entity could infect them too, turning them into mindless zombie minions. If someone dies without being decapitated or cremated, the cosmic entity can also infect their corpse and revive them if they were not killed by another human (meaning either death by natural causes or being killed by zombies). After infecting 99.87% of North America, he transported his consciousness into Asia and started to infect the people there too. In less than a month, almost the whole world was infected by the cosmic entity, turning them into zombie minions. After infecting the world, he fashioned himself a name. He called himself Erb for a while but never liked the name and finally settled with the name Ern. The zombie minions had a hive mind, making it easy for them to coordinate attacks.
In the state of California, Leo Cooper and Magnet man were scavenging, trying to find every scrap of food they could. “Are your guns loaded?” Magnet man asked, standing before a supermarket door. “I think so,” Leo replied. “Let’s go,” Leo said. They fired a shot at the window, shattering it. The sound it made instantly attracted the zombie minions inside the supermarket. Magnet man pulled out both of his katanas, one blue and one red. He rushed inside and cut the first few zombie minions. “Cooper, come on, there will be more coming,” Leo Cooper jumped inside and started to grab all the food they could. Soon, a small horde of zombie minions approached their location. On sight, Leo Cooper raised his assault rifle and unleashed a barrage of bullets at the minions, killing them. “We have to go before a juggernaut appears,” Leo said. They jumped on a motorcycle and rode off. Soon, they returned to Leo Cooper’s refuge. They walked into the house and were immediately greeted by Stickman, Windforce, and Erwin Cooper. “What did you get today?” Stickman asked. “Let’s see,” Leo Cooper replied. “Two bags of bread, one big sack of beef jerky, some raw beef that did not go bad, three salads, and one bag of popcorn. “This can last us three weeks if we do our best to organize our diet,” Erwin Cooper said. “We could have gotten more if our genius marine here did not create the maximum amount of sound possible by shooting without a silencer at a window!” Magnet man accused. “Oh, please,” Leo Cooper replied. “Don’t act like you did not have that run-in with that massive juggernaut. You could have completely driven around him, but nooooo! You wanted a thrill, so you went head-to-head with that guy.” “Guys, let’s stop arguing,” Stickman said. “Stay out of this, Stickman,” said both Leo and Magnet man. “He is right,” Windforce said. “Erwin Cooper has something important to tell you.” After Windforce objected, the two people started to quiet down. “Now that you guys have stopped arguing about the stupidest thing ever,” Erwin said, “let’s get down to business. For the last month, I have been researching dimensional transportation. I have concocted a blueprint for an interdimensional portal that takes us out of the spacetime continuum and hopefully transports us to another world. I have the important chemicals needed, and I just need some scrap metal, gears, and a high-power generator.” “Sounds good to me,” Leo said. Soon, they went to bed and had a good night’s sleep.
