Chapter 1: moonlit encounters
The moon hung low in the night sky, casting an ethereal glow over the forest as I prowled through the shadows. As a lone lycan, I was used to the solitude of the wilderness, but tonight, something felt different.
Suddenly, a rustle in the underbrush caught my attention, and I froze, senses on high alert. Emerging from the darkness was a figure – tall, imposing, and unmistakably alpha.
"Who goes there?" I growled, my voice low and cautious as I faced the intruder.
"It's just me," he replied, his voice calm yet commanding. "I mean you no harm."
Despite his reassuring words, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled over me as I studied him. There was something about him – a primal energy that set my instincts on edge.
"Stay back," I warned, baring my teeth in a silent challenge. "I don't trust you."
But as he stepped closer, I caught the scent of his alpha pheromones, and a shiver ran down my spine. Against my better judgment, I found myself drawn to him, a magnetic pull that I couldn't resist.
"Trust me," he said, his voice softening as he reached out a hand towards me. "We're not so different, you and I."
Reluctantly, I allowed him to approach, a strange mixture of fear and curiosity coursing through my veins. Little did I know, our chance encounter would set us on a path that would change both of our lives forever.
