The moonlight made her pale, white skin look almost translucent as she stood underneath it. The wind blowing through her hair gently as she reads from an ancient book- the words falling from her tongue almost too easily. Her green eyes scanned the page hungrily as the words softly made their way between her blush pink lips, the satin smooth glistening as her tongue gracefully swipes her bottom lip, before she continues reading aloud.

"Exsurge de cineribus

hanc animam

sacrificium tibi"

Her melodic voice whispers as the wind picks up in intensity. As he hides behind the large oak tree, he can see her take a drink from the goblet in her hand, continuing the incantation.

"sicut servus tuus sum humilis

manus mea opera tua

O fortis dominus tenebris."

His eyes haze with anger as he stares at the beautiful, dark haired woman as she stands over the man's body as it lays lifelessly in the middle of a pentagram, his throat slit.

The young man steps out from behind the tree, weapons in hand as he slowly approaches the woman who was once his woman. He knew she was into some dark shit, but not this dark.

“It’s you?” he asks in a hushed tone. His legs felt like jelly, afraid that he would collapse at any given moment. A tight knot formed in his stomach, and his hands trembled so badly that he was frozen in place for a moment, feeling suffocated by fear and anger. The feeling resembled a heavy weight pressing down on his chest.

She turns to the young man as they stand in the middle of the desolate woods, a wicked smirk appearing on her lips as she holds the goblet full of the dead man's blood. He felt sick to his stomach as he realizes that she had drank that only a moment ago.

"Oh, darling. it's always been me."

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel

Loved, Loudly

Merrell Bunting: Well written, kind of quiet story, I enjoyed it. I am still a bit perplexed over whether this was a second chance mating story with choosing or completely a chosen mate story. If it is a chosen mate tale it leaves one a bit worried about a fated mate showing up. Either way it was a nice read.

Bound to the Bear

bushbaby: Really fantastic book, despite the MFC background it felt like a satisfying, almost cheesy happy book. While her background is a challenge in itself, I would have loved to see some other challenge the couple had to overcome or even the clan to lean into the bear side more. There were quite a few spe...

Gallandro7: I originally added this because it looked interesting and I was curious how the mate process would go. I almost removed it due to several other books ahead of it, but I took an afternoon and read the entire thing in one go.I was pleasantly surprised at how well the book was crafted and that the mate...

The Luna He Threw Away

Asm272: This has been a delight to read. Such a well crafted story. Not a single word wasted, while it might be shorter than some, it does not lack emotion, excitement, romance, or humor. I am looking forward to reading the others in this series.
