Chapter 1
Blade, along with the others sat and watched as Daring paced back and forth at the campfire.
“I can’t believe he would do this, after all we have been through, he just left us like that,”
“There’s gotta be another reason, Nightwing wouldn’t betray us, maybe he’s just spying, double-sided. I’m sure he will be right here any minute now to tell us,” Floof’s wishful thinking didn’t raise anyone’s spirits. It was clear he fought on Vivir’s side. Everyone knew he wasn’t coming back.
“I knew Damien was a bad influence, I shouldn’t have let him hang out with him and the others!” Daring was still pacing.
“There’s nothing we could have done, he chose it on his own,” Fury tried comforting the older sister, “And Floof, Nightwing’s not double-sided, he’s fighting for Vivir now. He’s not coming back,”
“He thinks I tried to kill him, but that zombie made me miss my shot. I only pushed him away further,”
“Hey, has anyone seen Neon?” Blade realized they hadn’t seen him traveling back with them or even if he had retreated early, he would have greeted them, “He was with you, right Daring?”
“I had my hands full with Vivir. He was fighting Nightwing but disappeared,” For once, Daring stopped pacing, “If he returned early, maybe Navy’s seen him? Strangely, he didn’t greet us when we returned,”
“Maybe he came back to sleep,” Floof suggested.
They all started heading towards Navy and Floof’s cabin. He heard from Fury that Nightwing and Floof had been trying to convince him to move Navy into his and Neon’s cabin, but even he knew that was a bad idea. He wondered if Floof would still push that idea.
“Navy?” Daring knocked and the door creaked open within seconds with Navy standing to the side.
“Yes?”
“Do you know if Neon came back here?” Daring asked.
Navy shook his head, “No, it’s just been me here,”
“I’ll look for him, you guys can rest,” Blade offered, “I know Neon pretty well,”
“No, you’re not going alone, Vivir is still out there and her undead army,” Daring intervened, stepping down in his path.
“Fine, Navy, you wanna come?” He asked, turning to Navy knowing he rarely got to leave camp and would be willing to get out.
“Yes! Do I need anything?”
“Didn’t you hear Daring, Vivir is still out there?” Fury asked.
“You think I would put Navy in danger? Vivir wouldn’t go out of her way to attack right now, you heard her,” Blade started walking away, looking back at Navy, “Come, you don’t need anything,”
“She went out of her way before,” Daring muttered.
“Are you sure? How do we know they didn’t strike first and Vivir was passing by?” He shifted his gaze up towards Floof.
“Well, don’t look at me, I don’t know what happened,” Floof crossed her arms irritated.
“Come on Navy, let’s just go,” Blade signaled, without looking back, they followed the trail out of camp.
“Where do you think my father is?” Navy asked.
“I have a few places in mind to look, but you should be focused on staying close, it isn’t just Vivir to worry about, but wild animals that can kill you,” Blade warned.
“I’d like to see it try to catch up to me first,” Navy smirked, “I beat my latest record yesterday running across the clearing,” Even though Navy wasn’t born with powers like his father was, he still believed he did and thought it was something he could practice or train for.
“Navy, please!” Blade stopped in his tracks, a serious expression on his face, “Don’t make me send you back to camp, you will do as I say,”
“Fine,” He dropped his head with a sigh.
“Come on, let’s go. I wanna reach our destination by sundown,”
