"I fell in love with the characters. They were well developed and their separate personalities were believably displayed. The author has a good understanding of the different reactions they would each have and established their relationships exceptionally. There was a good balance between dialog, narrative and action. A story with too much narrative can cause me to get frustrated and want to skip ahead back to the dialog/action to move forward, but I didn't get that here. The plot is engaging and I really enjoyed the adventure along the way. There were powerful scenes that were moving, and I connected with the hero on many levels. I recommend this reading to anyone who has an interest in fantasy, enjoys a fellowship-type adventure and wants to be engaged in a completely new world that metaphorically faces some of our real-world pains. "

Very nice story and characters
"What a gripping story. I started wondering if I could finish. Some writers use a style that's hard for me to follow. I HAD to read every day. I wanted to know what was next. The characters were believable. While most parts seem to be witty and original there are times I feel like I'm reading The Lord of the Rings. Over all I am very glad to have read this book and look forward to the other parts."
Couldn't Put it Down ... Still living in the World when not reading
"I really enjoyed reading this story. It is well written and suspenseful. The reader becomes submerged in the story. You get a deep sense of the characters’ feelings and become invested in the relationships between the characters as well as in their journey. This kind of story telling draws the reader in and gives perfect visualization. You feel like you are there. It’s clear the author has done extensive research and accurately portrays the world in a realistic way yet also has very creative and unique elements in the story that fit perfectly in realm of fantasy. Anyone who loves fantasy will feel they’ve found treasure when they read this book; but reader be warned … once you get to chapter 4 you hooked and there’s no escape."
Very cool concept
"The world building of this story was creative and I liked how there was inspirations from folklore, such as the skinstealers which I found really creepy. The characters were fleshed out well and have great interactions with each other, especially Jin and Jae. I liked Olshar's character the most since he was so mysterious at the beginning but through out the story we learn a bit more about him, but not everything. There were some moments that slowed the story down as well as some grammatical mistakes, but besides that the plot was very interesting and I'm glad this is the start of a series."

An Interesting YA Novel
"The author of this book writes for a YA audience, and that premise is interesting. The book is based off of Eastern (I believe Chinese) culture. And the author knows lots and lots of this, which makes it interesting. Good descriptions, good flow. Good conflicts, and they develop. Good villains. Since it’s YA, I am not sure what to recommend. But hear me out: EG instead of “the rain beat down on his back” say “sharp droplets struck his back and he cowered under the onslaught” Don’t say “Words would not come”-----too monotone narrator----don’t be afraid to use interesting, snappy adjectives and verbs. Instead of “the animal retreated into the trees,” describe the sound, the footprints, the birds fleeing. Don’t be afraid to take risks. It’s the only way anyone improves (including me, and I’ve been writing for 10 years but never been published) It gets better in this respect by the middle of the book but still coukd use some improvement in my opinion. But then again, you might want to keep it this way because it’s a YA novel. But then again, Harry Potter is YA but it’s for adults too------don’t be afraid to develop your voice----rewrite it and make it snappy and like an action movie. Like Stephen King and JK Rowling. You can do it, you have a lot of talent, just keep asking feedback from your friends. Rewrite the first chapter over and over again and ask people what they think of different versions. Keep writing :)"
