Absolutely lovely
"This book was just beautiful. Words weave together to create a background for the MC that is so real that the reader is able to envision and feel the same humdrum existence as Evelyn. The manner in which even the most mundane tasks were written was done in such a way as to be pleasurable to read, which is definitely a feat in and of itself. The introduction into Evelyn's world, her friends, her husband, a picture is painted of the trials she deals with and we're allowed to understand her reactions and thought patterns. And when the unthinkable happens to disturb the quiet little town she's in, the way in which Evelyn handles it speaks even more to her personality. This is a great book that starts out with a world in the past that is rocked by unforeseen events. And the way that some individuals from the community come together to help one of their own is heartwarming. Definitely a recommended read for anyone. "
Pull You From Antiquity
"Just as the title implies: this story will pull you from your antiquity; it will sleep-walk you awake. Fans of post-modern gothic English, with an eye toward Gatsby splendor, edged by Bronte melancholy, will enjoy this. Although, be fore-warned. It is a slow-burn. It takes some time to reach the contours of its crux (but, those with great intuition will sense what is happening long before) but when it does, it does so with great sophisticated aplomb. It is so well constructed in an emotional vein, minimizing physical descriptors, that - if pressed - I could not tell you the color of Evelyn's eyes; but I can tell you the color of her soul."
Willow Creek
"This author has a gift for painting pictures with words. Texture and detail spring from every paragraph. She paints with words the way an artist uses color. Once I got my bearings on the time frame the motivations of the character of Charles became more clear. Since I am a Boomer, the time frame was comfortable and delivered in a believable fashion. This is not my normal reading material, yet I am intrigued and keep advancing through the chapters curious what was about to happen next. Then the writer shifts into high gear and the ladies show their metal! Looking through the eyes of Evelyn was a challenge for me at first. But, I have become drawn to her and emotional her shift from depressed and abused housewife to forward looking warrior for equal rights. When she is betrayed, felt really sorry for her. Very good work, and I highly recommend this title to the mystery romance reader! I look forward to finding time to finish this title! "
A Series of ‘Willow Creek’ type events ….
"Dear reader, be prepared to witness the destruction of a lonely individual who only wants to be loved and respected in her marriage. Instead she will be humiliated, abused and neglected to the point where she might be tempted to take her own life. Does this sound like a cheerful enough beginning? So opens ThaliaQuill’s dark journey of a tale about a nightmare marriage only brightened by the aspect of a possible affair with the good-looking Collins boy, who works at the grocery store. He is the only male who is kind to poor Evelyn. Everyone else is mostly indifferent to her, with the exception of her cruel husband Charles who forces Eve to clean up his coffee mess, after he deliberately throws his cup down on the floor. You keep hoping for escape for poor Evelyn, and I’m not sure if she will eventually succeed. Even so, I pray that the real life Evelyn’s will come to know their worth and how to get out of a bad situation. "
