Chapter 1 - Behind the Curtain
"But Apa, she's, my friend! I could never betray her!" Quintin argues back at his Apa.
SMACK
The sharp pain of his Apa's hand flows through his face as Quintin hunkers down to kneel before his Apa.
"You will do what you're told young, warlock! Do you not remember what I have told you? Her Muder is the betrayer to this family, and we will set things right! Do you understand?" Mr. Persephone declares as Quintin holds the side of his face in his palm, trying to sooth the pain.
"Yes, sir," Quintin adds, trying to hide a muffled cry.
With a low snicker, Mr. Persephone implies, "And the best part is she'll never know what's coming," He turns to exit the study.
