Chapter 1
I’m an alpha without a pack. It was my own choosing. That doesn’t ease the ache of loneliness I feel at night.
Aimlessly, I roam Shadow’s woods. Hoping for something, of what I’m unsure. Tonight, I’m deep within the trees. The crescent moon hidden behind the canopy of leaves.
Rustling and a whimper draw my attention. I stalk within the darkness, careful not to hit any twigs or step on old crunchy fall leaves.
Ahead I see a guy. My eyes can’t leave him even when I beg them to. I’ve never been opposed to men, per se. Most packs have orgies. But I haven’t ever felt compelled to knot one either.
The guy is nesting. He’s gathering all kinds of things. Rocks, leaves and mud. My heart aches at the sight of his nest.
Male omegas are rare. All omegas, no matter the gender, usually use their alpha’s scent. Things that belong to them or the pack. This omega is alone, and his nest is sad. I should stay right here.
Here is where it’s safe. I blame his sadness for drawing mine for what I do next.
