I Always Thought the World was more Beautiful when it was less Cultivated
"The first time little two-year-old Antonio sees cattle , he knows exactly what he wants to do with his life. Ride a horse while the sun beats on his back and be greeted with the scent of his clean sweat mixed with that of the hay as he ropes and lassos the wild beasts. He expresses all these thoughts in the word ‘Cow!’ much to his parents delight. Unfortunately Antonio’s parents don’t live long enough to see their child’s dream come true. Antonio also known as ‘Ant’ has grown up into a good looking, muscular young man. There is only one thing missing in his life, Elmer his best friend informs him, and that is a lass to call his own. Not to worry. Antonio knows that all sorts of pretty girls do their shopping at the Farmer’s Market. He visits there and begins to flirt with a dark skinned beauty, only to be interrupted by his cousin Cyranno, who equals Antonio in physical attractiveness. Cy is the one who defeats the mad thief, who has come to rob the patrons at the market, not Antonio. The thief however manages to shoot Dobbie an old family friend before fleeing. As Dobbie lays dying in Antonio’s arms, Antonio swears vengeance for his death, even as he wonders if Cy will continue to steal all the pretty girls attention from him. I love the dialect author Violet Of course, gives to her characters. It has a very authentic feel. I also like the western setting. My favorite line in the novel is “I always thought the world was more beautiful when it was less cultivated.” Beautiful writing there. I wish her luck in the Cowboy Romance Contest. "
A tale of romance, and of a need for justice to be served…
"I’m 3 chapters into this book so far, and it’s got an excellent cast of characters, a great plot, and some fun humor mixed in. The romantic plot line of the story is very cute so far, but there are also tragic elements mixed in and there is a murderous person on the loose who will hopefully be brought to justice. There’s also a scene with a wolf and burgers that I really liked too, and it’ll be interesting to see what further role wolves might play in the story. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more of it!"
