Character Sketch: Selene

Ethnicity/Ancestry:
Selene does not remember her parents much, as they died when she was very young. But, she was raised by her Aunt Vanora and later her Guardian Cassis. She has little memory of the island, her home; she was only six when Vanora had helped her and Cassis to escape. She does recall that her family was considered somewhat royalty because of their pure blood. Vanora once told her that they were revered as close descendants of Mother, known as the daughters of Nieve, the water goddess.
Physical Attributes:
Selene has bright copper red hair, that cascades in waves down the length of her back. She keeps it beaded or pinned to keep it still and avoid detection. Her skin is pale cream and her eyes are the color of green tourmaline stones. She is beautiful, dangerously so.
Education/Career:
In the brief moments not running, Cassis trains Selene to use her abilities, including commanding the element of water. When they are suddenly separated, Selene keeps up on her training, hopeful that she will make Cassis proud when they are reunited.
Personality/Quirks:
Selene grows into a shy, young woman, wary of humans. She keeps to herself mostly, only comfortable speaking to small children and her enamored, Clara.
Skills/Interests/Hobbies:
Selene has become very good at hiding in plain sight and running- she did learn from the best. She loves to read and is very sharp, often able to think quickly on her feet.
Likes/Dislikes:
Selene dislikes being hunted, constantly living in fear. She likes learning new things and teaching them to the younger kids. She likes floating in the lake and feeling the sun on her face. And no matter how much she tries not to, she really likes the quietly kind, Fallow Palfrey- a boy in the town she and Clara have settled in.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Selene’s strength is her empathy and capabilities as a siren. Her weakness is that she isolates herself.
Fears/Aversions:
Selene fears loving anyone because of the consequences it may cause. She fears doing harm to others. She fears that the humans are right and that she may actually be a monster.
Other abilities/Special powers:
Selene is still a novice when it comes to elemental transference and she has absolutely no control over her ability of compulsion yet. But Cassis says that, with practice, she will learn to master both.
