Prolog
He was lying awake in his bed with his beautiful betrothed in his arms. It was a quiet night, everybody sleeping. Only he was awake, thinking about the past, the present, and the future. Mostly about the future. He had a strange feeling. Like something was gonna happen that night.
At that moment, he heard something coming from outside. Something, he'd never heard before.
He got up off his bed, stumbling a little bit, not to wake up his betrothed.
He went outside, a torch in his hand.
When he saw what it was, he let his torch fall on the ground and gasped...
~the morning before~
"Morning, babe." Astrid said, hugging her boyfriend's shoulders from behind. He was sitting in his chair at his desk.
"Morning, Milady. How are you feeling?" Hiccup turned around, facing the beauty of his girlfriend, who was hugging him.
"Well, I feel kinda tired. But just that. I mean, it's getting heavier. But I'm happy." Hiccup smiled at her.
"And how are you feeling?" Hiccup chuckled. He knew Astrid was worrying about him.
"I'm fine, Astrid. I just have a strange feeling, to be honest. But it's just a feeling. Nothing serious." He managed a fake smile.
Astrid took his hand and put it on her pregnant belly.
At that moment, the baby kicked. Hiccup and Astrid both smiled and laughed. Every time Hiccup felt his child kick, was a special moment.
"Thank you." He whispered, getting up and hugging Astrid.
"I love you." And he kissed her.
"I love you, too, Hiccup. And I know the baby does, too."
The gang knew about the pregnancy. And Astrid started showing it three months ago.
"What do you think when the baby is coming?"
"Do you think it would be girl?"
"Well, I bet it would be boy." The gang asked such questions very often lately. The couple never really knew what to say. But Hiccup and Astrid were happy that their friends would accept their baby.
Astrid and Hiccup were lying in their bed, talking about their future.
"So. What do you think it will be?" Astrid asked her boyfriend, laughing a bit. Hiccup chuckled.
"To be honest, I don't really care. I know I'm going to love the baby, no matter which gender. I know you're going to love the baby, no matter which gender. So, it's not matter for me if we're going to have a son or a daughter. We are gonna love him or her no matter what." Astrid seriously got tears in her eyes. Hiccup noticed it. He leaned above her, kissing her soft lips.
"You are not going to leave me alone with the child, like my father did to my mom, right, Hiccup?" She asked, being a bit scared of his answer.
"No, Milady. I'm never going to leave you alone. Never. You two are everything for me. Don't you ever think I would leave you. I love you too much for that."
"We love you, too, Hiccup." And they kissed again. Soon, they fell asleep.
Well, one of them.
