Prologue
Marinette Dupain-Cheng •
I ask myself if I’ll ever fall in love. It’ll probably be my crush, Prince Adrien.
Why him?
I don’t know, to be honest, it’s like we’re soulmates or something.
Even though I’m only 15, doesn’t mean I’m that crazy.
My older sister, Kagami, used to be friends with Adrien before he left her.
They weren’t in a relationship, but close childhood friends in fencing class.
But I guess that’s why Kagami doesn’t like to smile a lot, except being with me.
“Marinette!”
“Yes?” I answer, looking up from my phone.
I was in my bedroom, staring at my phone cause I’m done with Chinese History class.
“Hurry up! We have a ball to go!” Cries Kagami, her voice echoing across the castle.
“Coming! Jeez, I hate weddings. Not like I’m getting married any time soon.” I grumbled, getting up from my bed and heading out.
I was already wearing my dress. It’s just that I hate wearing makeup and dresses. Looks like I was in the Barbie world.
I quickly enter the front door of our castle, seeing Kagami smiling at me.
She’s only 16, and the best fencing player in the whole world.
“Aww. You look adorable imouto.” Kagami says in Japanese, staring at my beautiful Chinese dress.
I look to see her, seeing her beautiful traditional Japanese dress.
“As to you jie jie,” I reply in Chinese, smiling and giggling at her reply.
“Aw look at you two.”
Fei, our oldest sister. She’s the world’s master of martial arts. Even known as the Lady Dragon of Shanghai.
“Fei! Are you coming with us?” I ask her, as she exists outside our front door.
She was wearing a gold dress, with a masquerade mask.
“Duh, they wanted me to do act martial arts of Kung Fu,” Fei explains, following her lead to the black limousine, that was parked for us to leave.
“Oh, no wonder. I heard that everyone’s kingdom of the world is coming too. Even the son of USA President, Luka Stone.” Kagami answers as I blush slightly.
I’ve met Luka before, but I haven’t seen him in a while though. He’s a great friend.
“Oooooohhh. Blue hair boy is invited to the party.” Reply Fei, laughing.
We all enter inside the limo, carefully not ruining our dresses.
“It’s a wedding Fei. Not a battle of parties.” Answer Kagami, blushing slightly.
“Don’t ruin the fun little sis. You know I was born first.” Reply Fei, smirking at us as me and Kagami groan, knowing she’s cooler than us.
“Question; who’s wedding is this?” I ask them.
They both shrug.
Hmm...wedding? I should probably ask mother after.
“I heard it’s like the movie in America ‘Fifty Shades Darker’. Where there’s a masquerade at the wedding.” Fei explains, sitting in our seating spots.
“Ooooo, sounds dramatic,” I answer.
I’ve never seen that movie but I heard it’s Rated-R so that’s a no-no for me.
“Yep, now come on! We’re late as usual.” Fri knocked at the driver’s window, alerting him to know that we’re good to go.
“Tell that to Marinette.” Reply to Kagami, smirking at me.
“Why me?!” I cry laughing, as everyone laughs.
“Wow, it’s beautiful,” I said, staring at every decoration and beauty.
We all stand at the entrance of the wedding masquerade party, seeing glitters and diamonds shining on the light.
Maybe weddings aren’t that bad...
“Just dance girls.” As both of my oldest sisters ran to the food table
Of course, they are hungry as usual. They really do work out a lot.
I’m shy and clumsy. But I kept my cool as everyone around me dance and talk.
That’s when I bump into someone, without looking where I was going.
“Whoops, sorry.” I apologize for the weird-looking mystery guy.
He had a gray suit and a black mask. And his eyes were green like an emerald diamond.
“It’s alright beautiful.” He replies, staring down at me. He was quite tall.
Wait, what? I thought, realizing what he just said.
“Uh, thanks?” I softly thank him, staring at my feet in embarrassment. But my dress was covering me like a blanket.
“What’s your name?”
“Oh...I’m Ladybug.” I joke.
I didn’t want a stranger knowing my real name. But he does seem casual.
“Ladybug huh? Then I’m Chat Noir.” He replies, smirking at me.
I laugh at his humor. “Well kitty, I gotta get back to my table.” Blushing nervously.
“Wait...would you mind taking this dance?” As the song of Taylor Swift starts to play, and everyone around us gets a partner.
His hand reaches out for me, as I softly look into his emerald eyes.
“S-sure...”
“I had a great time Chat Noir,” I said, as we both walk around the garden.
“You too M’lady.”
“Well since now we’re friends, would you mind if I get to see you without your mask?” I ask, giggling.
Hoping he might be the one for me.
“And reveal our secret identities? That’s no fun.” He jokes, stuttering nervously.
“True, but hey. No matter who you are, you’re always gonna be my partner.”
He sighs sadly, as he stops behind me. “I just don’t want you to freak out. Cause I’m not like everyone else.”
“What do you mean kitty?”
He sighs, slowly taking off his mask in front of me.
I gasp in major shock.
“Prince Adrien?” I ask, staring at the one I’ve ever felt in my heartbeat.
“What? No, I’m-”
“Lover girl! Hurry up! We gotta get home now!” Kagami cries, running towards me.
What did she just do?
“I’m sorry,” I reply to him, pulling him for a soft kiss, holding tightly in his arms.
He holds me tight, his arms around me pulling me closer, kissing back with a soft emotion that I’ve never felt before.
Was it love at first sight?
Until I was pulled away from my Kagami. Pulling me away from him, dragging me out of the wedding party.
But he never found out who I was...but I hope he’ll still remember me...
Because I’m in love with Adrien Agreste...
