Things you need to know before you read it

Luciano De'Romano is the leader of the Italian Mafia which is one of the most powerful Mafia's in the whole world. Feared by everyone in the under world. He is 6'4 with a built body, tattoos that compliment his skin and a beautiful golden tan. He's hard working, huge and powerful in every which way.

Sofia Ramirez, an innocent but feisty woman, born into the Ramirez family which is very well known for their wealth. She's beautiful, kind and sweet but if she's messed with, then her Latino root's are strong. Sofia is a 5'6 brunette with long, loosely curled hair on the ends, with an hour glass figure except thick on all the right places. Although from a very wealthy family, her dream was to open her own cafè, which she did on her own rather than taking her fathers help as she wanted to be independent and start by herself rather than using her families wealth and power to do so.

Sofia’s POV

The wind whipped through the café’s open door as I surveyed the bustling scene. It was always a chaotic ballet of customers and hurried orders, especially on chilly days like today. A comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the sweet notes of pastries, enveloping the space in a warm, inviting embrace.

“Lydia, could you handle the other counter? It’s getting a bit crowded,” I called out over the din, balancing a tray with a steaming cup of espresso and a slice of strawberry cheesecake.

“Sure thing, Sofia. And seriously, take a break. You’ve been on your feet since dawn,” Lydia insisted, concern etched on her face.

I hesitated, scanning the café brimming with patrons. “Alright, but call me if you need anything.”

Reluctantly shedding my apron in the changing room, I stepped outside into the crisp breeze. Closing my eyes, I let the wind tousle my long, silky brown hair. Three months ago, I’d invested my savings to open this café, determined to carve my path like my billionaire father had, albeit in a different realm. His skepticism had been palpable, but earning his pride was my greatest aspiration.

As I returned, refreshed, to resume my duties, Antony, a regular with a disarming smile and perpetual charm, approached.

“The usual, please,” he requested with a grin, his brown eyes sparkling.

“Coming right up,” I replied, unable to suppress a smile. Antony was a daily fixture, attributing his loyalty to his boss’s discerning taste and, perhaps, a bit to my company.

Handing him his order, I added a few tissues with a playful quip. “It’s been breezy today.”

Antony leaned in, his voice dropping conspiratorially. “Or was it just you who swept me off my feet?”

I blushed, laughing at his audacity. “Smooth as ever, Antony.”

With a mock bow, he winked. “You know it.”

Curiosity tugged at me. “So, who is your boss exactly? The mysterious connoisseur of my coffee?”

His gaze darkened briefly. “Trust me, you’re better off not knowing, señorita.”

And just like that, he vanished out the door, leaving me with unanswered questions and a fluttering heart.

Antony’s POV

Navigating through stringent security, I ascended to the opulent penthouse. Luciano De’Romano, my boss, awaited in his office, his presence commanding respect even in his restrained fury.

“Where were you?” His voice, deep and authoritative, cut through the room.

“Traffic, boss. You know how it is,” I replied, attempting nonchalance.

Luciano’s expression hardened. “Time, Antony. Time is everything.”

I clenched my fists, feeling the weight of his disappointment. “It won’t happen again.”

Silently acknowledging my apology, he gestured to the coffee I brought. “The Russians?”

“They want to discuss amendments to the Mexican treaty,” I reported, pouring myself water and settling opposite him.

Luciano’s gaze hardened. “Let them wait. If they’re serious, they’ll come to Alexo.”

As we strategized, the gravity of our world pressed in. Alexo, a clandestine hub owned by the De’Romano family, hosted the elite of the underworld. It was here that deals were brokered and alliances forged, shielded from prying eyes.

In the shadows of this unseen realm, Luciano De’Romano reigned supreme—a man whose power resonated through every whispered negotiation and unspoken threat.

Once enmeshed in the Mafia, there was no escape.

Sofia’s POV

The drive back to my apartment was a familiar blur of city lights and bustling streets. The elegant building, a gift from my father, stood as a testament to his wealth and influence. As I parked, thoughts of the café still echoed in my mind—the warmth of the customers, the comforting routine of brewing coffee.

Inside, the apartment exuded a quiet luxury that I had grown accustomed to. It was spacious yet cozy, adorned with pieces of art and mementos that reflected my father’s impeccable taste. Changing into comfortable clothes, I wandered down the hall, the day’s events replaying in my mind like scenes from a movie.

A sudden noise in the kitchen jolted me out of my thoughts. Instinctively, I grabbed a bat kept nearby for security and approached cautiously. Before I could react, a feminine voice screamed, startling me into dropping the bat.

“Mary! Oh my goodness, you scared the life out of me!” I exclaimed, relief flooding through me as I recognized our longtime maid.

“My apologies, Sofia. Your mother a father sent me to assist with any household chores or cooking you might need,” Mary explained with a warm smile.

“It’s alright, Mary. Thank you,” I replied, feeling a mix of gratitude and amusement. My parent’s protective instincts knew no bounds.

“Are you sure there’s nothing else I can help you with?” Mary asked again, her concern genuine.

“I’m sure, but thank you. You can head back home now,” I reassured her.

As Mary departed, I couldn’t help but smile at her unwavering loyalty. My parent’s constant worry for my safety was endearing yet sometimes overwhelming. I loved them dearly, but I needed to carve out my independence, especially in a world where my family’s name carried both privilege and scrutiny.

Luciano’s POV

The thick smoke from my cigar spiraled lazily in the air as I sat in the opulent confines of Alexo, the pulsing heart of the underworld. It was a place where power was brokered, alliances forged, and deals sealed under the discreet veil of secrecy. The women beside me vied for my attention, but my focus remained on the business at hand.

Antony entered the lounge, his demeanor respectful yet tinged with urgency. In our world, titles mattered, and calling me ‘boss’ was not just a formality but a symbol of respect earned through years of ruthless dedication.

“Boss, Ricardo’s here to see you,” Antony announced, his voice low but carrying across the room with authority.

“Send him in,” I replied curtly, my tone brooking no delay.

Ricardo Gonźalez entered—a man of few words but with eyes that spoke volumes. His nod was a silent acknowledgment of our shared history and the complexities that bound us in this dangerous dance of power.

“Luciano De’Romano,” Ricardo greeted me, his voice a low rumble in the plush surroundings.

“Ricardo Gonźalez,” I responded evenly, cutting through any pleasantries. Time was a commodity I couldn’t afford to waste, especially not with the currents of betrayal and ambition swirling around us.

“How have you been, De’Romano? It’s been a while,” Ricardo began, attempting to ease into conversation, but I cut him off sharply.

“Let’s talk business. I don’t have time for small talk,” I stated flatly, my gaze unwavering. In our world, every word spoken was laden with intention, every action calculated to maintain control.

“Luciano, many of your men have been disrupting my operations at the docks. My shipments are suffering,” Ricardo stated bluntly, his frustration palpable.

Luciano chuckled darkly as he got up and all the women ran out of the lounge. He poured himself a drink and downed it in one gulp. His eyes went blood red.

“Gonźalez I layed down some ground rules, no fucking human trafficking, you went against my rules and did it anyway”

“Luciano it’s been running for years now” Gonźalez started getting uneasy.

“And I changed them long ago Gonźalez, if you fail to follow them you know what I’m capable of”

“it’s what I do Luciano!”

“I SAID NO” Luciano roared with his booming voice

“I won’t let you destroy this for me Luciano! You may be a big part of the Mafia but I won’t let you get away with this! If you don’t allow my shipments through by tomorrow, hell will come to you I promise you that”

Luciano grabbed the Mexican Mafia leader by his collar and threw him into the wall, and pulled him close, his eyes narrowing dangerously. “Listen closely, Ricardo,” Luciano growled, his voice low and threatening. “You may think you can threaten me, but remember who you’re dealing with.” He released Ricardo abruptly, causing him to stumble backward.

Ricardo straightened himself, adjusting his suit with a nervous gulp. “You’re making a grave mistake, Luciano,” he warned, his voice shaky but defiant. “There will be consequences.”

Luciano smirked, his demeanor cool and collected despite the tension in the room. “There always are, Ricardo. But whether they’re yours to deliver remains to be seen. You’ve been in this business long enough to know I don’t take threats. You fucking threaten me then you die sí? As simple as that.”

And he shot him right between his eyes.

“Antonio call the clean up crew and take his body out”.

As the doors closed behind the lifeless Mexican Mafia leader, Luciano leaned back in his chair, exhaling slowly. The night was far from over, and he knew the power plays of the underworld never ceased. His mind drifted momentarily to the image of Sofia Ramirez, the feisty café owner whose coffee had become a small comfort in his tumultuous world. But such thoughts were fleeting luxuries he couldn’t afford.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back at the café, Sofia finished her day with a tired but content smile. The evening rush had finally subsided, leaving her to clean up and prepare for another day. She often wondered about the people who frequented her café, especially those like Antony, whose presence seemed to hold secrets beyond his charming smile.
As she wiped down the counters, her mind wandered briefly to her father’s concerns. His protective nature driving him to shower her with gifts and worry endlessly about her safety. Sofia appreciated his gestures but cherished her independence more.
In his penthouse, Luciano contemplated the events of the evening. Loyalty was a rare commodity in their world, and Luciano valued it above all else. Yet, he knew better than to trust anyone completely.
Outside the realm of his business dealings, Luciano De’Romano remained an enigma, his personal life shielded by layers of secrecy and suspicion. But in the dimly lit confines of Alexo, where power and danger intertwined, he was a force to be reckoned with.
And somewhere between the café and the penthouse, fate continued to weave its intricate web, drawing Luciano and Sofia closer with each passing day, unaware of the turbulent path that lay ahead.
