Elisabeth a tout foutu en l'air lors d'un énième pétage de câble, la ramenant ainsi dans son village natal. Dans ce village étouffé par les raffineries et les usines pétrochimiques, Elisabeth rencontre ceux qui peuplent ce paysage toxique, notamment Edgar, un marginal paranoïaque au bord du gouffre, avec qui elle se lie. Entre soirées agitées et journées délirantes, dans un réalisme cruel poli par la misère humaine, leur passion destructrice les pousse à s'opposer à une société qu'ils considèrent autoritaire. Ensemble, ils s'enfoncent dans leurs travers les plus sombres, explorant jusqu'où leur quête d'absolu peut les mener.
