The Courage of the Cowardly Soul
"This story is only 8 chapters long at the moment but has the potential to build the plot to make an engrossing and thought-provoking novel. This very intense story is written in the first person, so we are inside the mind of the protagonist, thinking his thoughts and seeing what he sees. His experiences in the trenches in WWI have left him deeply scarred and we witness two very brutal events described in detail, that are very disturbing, not least because of Jaque's reaction. The story poses valid questions and follows Jacque's quest to explain what he has endured and the carnage he has witnessed. It is a moving story, well written and the author deftly deals with this difficult subject matter and the complexities of the human reaction to war. Well worth reading."
The Darkness of War
"I have to say that I love the thoughtful, dark and realistic ride this has been. The characters were realistic; this truly expresses the way things can trouble people for years. Beautifully written! I believe there were a few mistakes in the first chapters, but otherwise, this was greatly written. "
The Courage of the Cowardly Soul
"I was enticed to read this, because many of my favorite books run a similar theme. I like the way the author successfully uses simple language to illustrate complex matters and I like his characters. Had this offering been much longer, I would have continued my interest to the end."
Beautiful story. :)
"This reminded me of my favorite singer James Barbour. :)"
The courage
"This is a really good piece of work on war and its effect on the soldiers. Jacques is a tortured soul and I guess that is what war does to the young men's psyche. The portrayal of killing and brutality is shown very well here. My heart goes out to Jacques and the shocking experience he had to endure. I would love to read more of his work."
Cowardly Soul - Revew
"I am lost in admiration at the quality of the writing in this piece. This has to be the most profound thing I have read in a long time. I cannot begin to imagine the amount of research that has gone into producing this work which graphically transports the reader into the horrors of the Great War, and one can only hope that Jacque finds his peace by the end of it. Superb work."
So far so good
"You might want check your story, I think it might have been messed up in the formatting on the site in a few places. It was easy to read, I am not a huge fan of first person POV but that is mostly just me. Looks like you are off to a good start."
