Plans
Irina's pov:
It was march, spring had arrived and that also meant we had a break from school. My friends and I had several things planned out for this week. I was filled with excitement! Thinking about all the things we were getting in to felt so refreshing.. we all needed a break from school and from.. our hidden abilites.
I snapped out of my thoughts when hearing Elijah's repetitve complaints. He was so fragile and annoying, I couldn't handle it anymore!
"What's the point of sitting at home all day?! We're going to rot!" Elijah complained over and over again. He lounged on the sofa, stretching out his arms and legs. "We? I'm not going to rot away like you," I muttered as he slowly sat up and glanced at me. He raised an eyebrow with a mischievous smile. "Are you planning to include me in whatever you're up to?" He wiggled his eyebrows. I shook my head, rolling my eyes. "Maybe in your dreams!"
There was no way I could let him come along with me and my friends. He's going to go wild.. just like last time! Especially since we're planning to party first. I'm assuming there's going to be many good looking guys, so if he comes.. that'll make it worse! He could stay home.. invite friends and maybe play bingo? or whatever! I just can't have him with me for this break.
He let out a groan as he rolled off the couch onto the floor. He lied on his stomach, letting out a loud sigh. "Come on.." He whispered, closing his eyes. "I really need this distraction, i'm so tired of thinking about him." He mumbled.
I leaned back onto the sofa, shutting my eyes closed. "Okay.. but you have to promise that'll you'll be good!" I quickly said, opening my eyes to see him infront of me. He widely smiled, his gums showing. He repeatedly nodded his head. "Oh you won't regret this.. I'll be on my best behavior." He winked at me before rushing upstairs.
I sat there silently, staring off into space until my mother walked in. She held a necklace in her palm, the pendant hanging out. She came closer, sitting right next to me.
With a smile, she sighed. "What were you thinking about?" She asked. I thought about what to respond with for a moment.. in all honestly, I had no thoughts in my head. There was nothing much to think about. "Nothing." I mumbled, looking into her hazel eyes.
I gazed at my mother for a moment. Many people adore and admire her.. She's sophisticated, intelligent and beautiful. Many say I incrediblely resemble her, besides my eyes of course. I adored and loved her with every bit of me. However.. She has flaws as well that no one notices. We usually argue alot and at times it can get physical. She's an older, experienced vampire who has mastered her strengths and abilities.. of course she can take me down with ease! I try to fight her back and be as good as she is.. but it's so difficult to master these dumb vampire strengths. I can barely control my thirst! Well.. I can but sometimes I lose control and I get a bit carried away.
She spoke up, "I have something for you." She gently held my hand and placed a beautiful necklace in my palm. It was absolutely so beautiful.. the blue sapphire twinkled under the sunlight. I looked up at her, before closely observing the gem. I couldn't believe she handed me this! This is something sentimental to her.. Why would she give me this now?
I shook my head. "I don't get it.." I mumbled. My mother looked at me with a soft smile. "I know we've been a bit rocky lately.." She started off, holding my hand into hers. "But I still love you nonetheless, and this is an early birthday present."
I almost forgot my birthday was coming up during this break! I was absolutely excited.. i'm turning eighteen. I was only a year older than Elijah.
"I forgot my birthday was coming up.." I mumbled with a smile. I didn't have anything planned for my birthday besides for spring break. I guess it didn't matter as much anyway.. For most of my birthdays we usually dine together, joined by extended family and friends. It's fun that way since we're all together, converstating until the moon rises. We would also eat and stuff our faces until we couldn't anymore! It would be so fun.. But since I have plans this week, I might not do anything.
She smiled. "I can't believe you're turning eighteen!" She exclaimed with a huge smile. Suddenly, her smile formed into a frown as she stared off into space. I tilted my head, breathing slowly. "Mom?" I mumbled.
My mother snapped out of it, her smile returning. "I've decided to call your grandmother Donna.. She's going to stay with us for a while." She spoke up.
I slightly frowned at that.. My grandmother Donna is from my father's side. She's kind and smart.. I think. I don't know her very well since she barely comes around. We've met before but she didn't seem to be ecstatic about us.
"Why?" I asked, slouching my back. She sighed, rolling her eyes. "Well.. She wants to be more involved in your lives. She could teach you a bit." She answered. "I don't want you nor Elijah to be rude.. I know you guys don't know her very well but she's trying to make an effort." She added. "I dont get it.. why now? She could've done it years ago." I quietly retorted with a sigh. "Well that doesn't mean she doesn't love you.. she was a very busy woman."
"But-" My mother cut me off. "Irina, I won't discuss this furthermore with you." She snapped. I furrowed my eyebrow. "She's coming in a few days in the afternoon." She said.
I internally groaned when I heard that. I didn't know her that well and I wasn't sure I really wanted to now. She had several years to sweep in and really know us but.. instead she's doing it now that we're older. I'm sure she's nice and sweet.. but there was no way I was looking fowards to meeting her in a few days!
My mother softly spoke. "You should go rest now baby.. You're going to have a long day tomorrow so go up now." She gestured for me to stand and to leave. "I love you, goodnight Irina." She tagged on. "Love you mom." I whispered, slowly walking towards the stairs.
