Prologue
My name is Kiarra; my parents are the previous Alpha and Luna to the Silverheart pack. My mother is the original tribrid; she is the reason that Jesse, Kai, and I are tribrids. For those of you who do not know, that means we are part werewolf, vampire, and witch.
A few years ago, my parents stepped down and gave those spots to my older brother Jesse and his mate Rieka. That was a wild and interesting situation there. Our packs current Luna used to be a hunter. Yeap, that is right. She used to hunt down supernaturals like us until she met Jesse. But that is a story for another time, much like how my parents came to be.
Right now I am out on a run with my siblings patrolling our border. I am presently chasing after the scent of some rogue wolves on our land.
I freeze in the woods as I smell a scent that takes me back to a memory from five years ago.
I stood staring at the woods as my wolf howled and pleaded with me to dash off into them. She kept howling that our mate was nearby. I felt sick to my stomach at the thought though. The only thing I knew I had caught a whiff of was the scent of a vampire.
I narrowed my eyes as I caught a glimpse of a man. It had to have been the vampire I smelled. I felt his eyes lock on mine, and I froze, staring at him. He had long black hair down to his shoulder blades and the deepest cerulean blue eyes that I had ever seen. I could not help but stare just as he was back at me. I knew I should have been alerting my brother, but I didn't. I felt no danger from the man. So, I watched the mysterious vampire man disappear, heading away from us just as quick as he had appeared.
I shake my head as I hear my name called. I look over and see my brother Kai running up to me. “Kiarra, are you okay? I know we almost had at least two of them rogue werewolves!”
I nod my head. “Yeah, I am fine. I just lost him with the wind shift. I am sorry.” I apologize, shaking my head.
“It is okay; we will get them next time.” He shrugs and pats my shoulder. “We should head home. Jesse will be wanting a report on what happened.”
