Prologue: The Elders

In Aetheria, the Elders were sitting together at a round table talking amongst themselves.

The leader got up and started muttering and pacing around, not looking at his fellow elves.

The other two sat right where they were and did not interrupt him, knowing he could control both life and death. One of the elves could control life, and the other death, so they were not completely powerless.

Once the leader of the Elders sat down, he looked at the two in front of him. Just as he was about to say something, a ball of light appeared.

It turned into a whisp. They were mistaken for fairies often, but that didn't mean they were any less loved.

This whisp told them about dark entities known as the Shadows had attacked some nearby unicorns. As one would expect, the two Elders looked to their leader who was sitting in between them.

His voice was deep as he spoke. He told them about what these entities known as Shadows should be capable of and how it was concerning they knew how to enter Earth out of the realm they had been banished from, but now they had managed to enter a realm that was meant to be impossible to get into with dark magic.

He was about to turn on a beacon that only residents of the realm could see so they would know to stay in their homes until the whisp, Saffiale, could bring them to the Elder Tree for their safety.

Once Saffiale had brought the last family to the Elder Tree, a young hybrid went up to the Elders. She felt all eyes on her, which made sense since she was well known as her father was a vampire and her mother was a mermaid.

She asked about this girl called Seraphina and her dragon Eclipse. Nobody knew who she was talking about. There was no Seraphina, but if she had a dragon then she must have been a new arrival.

They listened intently, wondering what their leader would say next. He told them about a prophecy which had warned them about this day. All of them had thought the Elders would save them, but their leader was talking about the girl who thought she was human.

It was absurd to say the least. There hadn't been any records of humans in Aetheria for nearly 900,000,000,000 years. And that was when they were at war.

Their leader whispered something to the young hybrid. He then turned his attention to the people of Aetheria. He looked grave as if someone had told him the other two Elders had died. His voice was deeper that usual as he told them not to worry. Looking at Saffiale, he told her to call Eclipse. They would need Seraphina.
