Chapter 1
*slight trigger warning* mentions of blood, car crashes, and death!
Ughh I hate traffic. Why can’t cars just fly or something? Wouldn’t that be convenient? Welp, as I waited for the cars to start moving or for flying cars to be invented, I might as well do something useful. Hmm what should I- ah yes!
I took out my sudoku book from the passenger seat and picked up the old pen from the cup holder full of crumbs. When I opened it, the fragrance of old paper and set ink filled my system, helping me ignore all the yelling and honking of horns from the angry people sticking their heads out their window.
Suddenly the yelling turned into screaming, then heavy thumps of people running past my car. What was going on? I reluctantly put the book down and the comforting smells were suddenly replaced by the smell of gasoline!? My eyes shot wide open in terror and wild confusion.
I threw open the door of my worn down car as adrenaline pumped through my veins giving me a boost I couldn’t use. Once I stepped out of the car a breeze of cool, salty air brushed over my body. I stood there stunned. There was a semi-truck plowing through cars and people like snow with no hesitation or remorse.
Now the screams and the smells made sense. Some cars exploded immediately after getting hit, people fleeing frantically away from everything but some not as lucky. Blood painted the bridge and panic filled the air. The truck was heading straight towards me. I tried to move or scream or do something but my legs were glued to the ground by shock and my voice was nowhere to be found.
Is this it? Is this how I die? No NO this can’t be it! But when the truck was just inches away from my face I knew it was too late. This is how I die.
