Chapter 1
“Ella?” I raised my head slightly and saw my mother standing in the doorway. I mumbled a slight yes, dreading what she was about to say. “ Time to wake up, Sweetie. Its your first day of High School.” She walked out and downstairs.
I groaned in tiredness as I looked to my alarm clock beside me. It was 6:00 o’clock in the morning and I realised then. I had to wake up each school morning, at this horrid time.
I somehow managed to sit up and take off my covers. Then, I swung my legs around the side of the bed to stand up. I always hated the sense of a school morning, espessially on Mondays. I raised myself of the bed and stumbled to my bathroom. I got myself undressed and slid inside the shower. I turned the knobs and soon water started to trickle out. It was cold at first but I didnt care as it wakened me up a bit. It got warmer and I just stood there, allowing the droplets to run down my face. I felt at peace, the only sound was the water hitting the floor. I washed my hair and body, then dragged myself out of the shower. I wrapped a towl around myself and then walked back into my room.
My mother must of known not to open my blinds which was a win, she even layed my clothes out neatly on the bed. Normally, someone would be okay and just get on with getting ready, but I’m not them. When I saw the clothes on the bed, I froze not in fear but in doubt. Was school a good thing?
“Honey, you ok?” My dad asked knocking on the door, obviously not opening it. “ Do I have to wear these clothes?” I asked him. “ No, your mother just laid them out in case you wanted to, to calm your nerves.” I could feel his smile. I answered back with an okay and then I heared his footsteps retreat back to his room.
I went into my closet and pulled out my black plain hoodie and then some jeans. My hoodie was my world, my cocoon. It helped me focus. I applied them onto my body and then grabbed my trainers. I loved them due to the forest green and black details. Once I put on my socks, I slid them on, double tieing them. I decided just to comb through my hair and brush my teeth. After applying some lip gloss, i grabbed my bag and stacked it with my old books, some notebooks and my pencil case.
I headed downstairs and greeted my mom who was doing some laundry. “ You ready, Sweetheart?” She asked. “ Close.” I grabbed an apple and headed walked out the kitchen, heading for the door. “ Ella! Wait! Im taking you remember?” I had completely forgotten about that. “ Oh. Yes, I remembered.” She walked with me to the car and I hopped in, after I recieved a hug and a kiss on my head from my dad. And then we drove off.
Around halfway there, my mother reminded me of another thing. “ Do I need to remind you about tonight?” She questioned me. I nodded slightly while looking ahead. “ You”ll have to take the bus back, me and your dad are going on that honeymoon to the Caribbean and no other family memebers available.” I did a slight nod, trying to hide my anxiety and stress. I had to take the bus? I kept quiet though. Why? Why did I have to take the bus back? I was silent the rest of the way there, which was around an 15 minute drive, meaning I had to take the bus unless I wanted to spend 40 minuted walking home.
When we arrived, i got out of the car with my bags and waved goodbye to my mother as she sped down the road. I turned back and saw a large building before me, anxiety turned to actual fear. It was incredibly large and I was an ant compared to it. How the fuck was I to navigate it? Either way, i plugged in my headphones and played some music as I walked in.
