Prologue
Black-cloaked figures swarm around a large oak table. One of them, adorned with golden embroideries around the rim of his hood seems to scan the room before he slams his pale hand down on the table. “Silence!” his hiss echoes through the hall.
“Where are the seer twins? Surely they have figured out when the abominations will be born? Has anyone figured out if there is any truth to that damned rumor? Did the Silverhearts Pack really turn the Region Six Vampire King?” The man’s cruel tone continues to echo throughout the hall as a couple of guards scurry out of the room, dragging in a couple—male and female. The female has brilliant, fire-like red hair with forest green eyes and wore what seemed to have once been a red dress of noble standing. The man is dressed in similar garb and has hair and eyes that match hers. The guards shove them towards the table as the room goes silent.
“What have you discovered? Do you have a date for the birth of the abominations yet? Or anything useful yet?” The cold, cruel tone of the hooded man causes the red-haired woman to cower slightly against the man, who quickly pulls her against him as if he alone can protect her from them.
“You know our abilities do not work like that!” He states before the hooded man pulls back his cloak, revealing his pale, almost white skin.
The hooded man’s face with narrow features and glowing red eyes. He moves in front of them so fast his actual movements cannot be tracked by the pair, and his bony fingers grip the man’s neck, lifting him off the ground.
“Oh trust me, I know how they work.” He snarls, his eyes shifting to the female. “Now do I kill him for his insubordinate attitude? Or do you have something to show me, dear?” He turns his eyes to the female who is being held back by the guards and has tears rolling down her cheeks.
“No! Please let him go, Master, please! I will show you whatever you want! Just let my brother go.” The woman trembles as he tosses her brother down with a harsh, resounding thud.
“Mel, they are but babies—” Her brother looks up at her, their green eyes sharing a pained look as she passes by him.
“And you are my brother. I can’t watch you die either.” Her voice cracks as she steps up to the man just as he snatches her forcefully by the arm.
The man’s eyes glow brighter as his smile widens, only looking more vile as it does. “Ahhh, within a fortnight they will be here.”
A loud knock comes from the hall’s door, drawing everyone’s attention to it as the man continues to hold the woman by the arm. “Enter,” he calls.
As the doors open, a taller man in his mid-forties walks in snarling. “They wiped almost everyone out! How could they be this strong? That fucking tribrid wench is trouble.” He hisses, dragging his hand through his long blond hair, his black eyes scanning the room as he raises an eyebrow at the two seers.
“Ahh, Alpha Sabien, relax. They were just puppets anyways. I have a better plan. Don’t forget we still have cards to play. But, perfect timing. We were about to have a snack here, and I think our guards deserve a break. Care to restrain the man for us for a bit until it is his turn?” The man’s smirk turns into a wicked glint.
Sabien’s face turns into a devious smile. “As you wish.” He makes his way over to the man gripping him by the back of his neck. “Now do you want him awake to watch the meal or?”
“Let her go!! She showed you what you wanted!” The man cries out, struggling against the hold of Sabien.
