Chapter 1:I'm the ultimate filial son.
Four years after the Dark Portal, in the Lordaeron Capital. Savage green-skinned Orcs suddenly emerged from the portal, burning, killing, and plundering their way through, annihilating the southern Stormwind Kingdom. Without even a moment to catch their breath, they continued to prepare for war, marching toward the six Human kingdoms of the north. The endless Orc army was said to number close to five hundred thousand. Orcs, with physiques nearly twice as strong as adult men, required three well-trained soldiers to kill one Orc warrior—and that was under optimal conditions. Yet Humans had enjoyed peace for too long; their armies had grown corrupt and lax, making the current battle especially arduous.
Yet at this life-or-death moment, the nobles of the Kingdom still found the time and inclination to host banquets, as if the green-skinned Orcs posed no threat. Whether their hearts were too bold or they were simply ignorant and arrogant, at least in Arthas's eyes, they were all parasites. 'The lord of lords is not my lord'—a king's power was diluted among the nobility, leaving him merely the greatest among many nobles, crowned with the title of king in name only.
Arthas sat on the sofa in the hall, dressed in impeccable formal attire, his gaze steady, suppressing his emotions. From the day he was born, his soul, transplanted from Earth, had been bewildered. Reincarnation was one thing, but why had he ended up in this world of swords and magic? Even if reincarnated, he was still far too young. He vividly remembered that night, engrossed in a 'video tutorial' with the 'teachers' of Japanese cinema, only to fall asleep after the ebb and flow—and wake up as an infant. It was downright absurd!
World of Warcraft—he recognized this world. He had once been addicted to the game, though it had also been a grind. What unsettled him most was that he had become Arthas! The crown prince of the most powerful Human kingdom, Lordaeron, the only legitimate heir. From birth, he had carried hopes and scrutiny, as well as immense pressure and responsibility. Being king was no easy task!
By day, he trained in combat with Muradin, brother of the Dwarf king; in the afternoon, he studied the ways of the Holy Light with the high priest; and at night, he learned noble etiquette. Every day was meticulously scheduled. He was less a prince and more a puppet. Willing or not, he had to study. Born into royalty, happiness wasn't always guaranteed—a sentiment Arthas had once dismissed as pretentious, but now he understood it all too well.
Not that there were no perks. At the very least, Arthas enjoyed the gentle massages of young maids during his baths, dressed in fine silks, feasting on delicacies, with every need attended to. His material life was ten thousand times better than before his rebirth.
These weren't the issues. The problem was Arthas's fate—far from favorable, with many coveting him. The nobles of the Kingdom schemed to divide his power and undermine his authority as crown prince. The future first Lich King sought to turn him into a Death Knight incapable of 'fun.' The noble ladies dreamed of seducing him. The pressure was overwhelming, and in a world where strength ruled, power was the ultimate truth.
"Ding, system correction complete. Reactivation in progress."
A voice more beautiful than any Arthas had ever heard echoed in his mind, stirring a flicker of excitement in his otherwise calm eyes. As a transmigrator, having no system would make it embarrassing to even greet others. A golden finger made all the difference—with it, one could slap others without fear of retaliation; without it, one could only endure slaps to the face helplessly.
"Ding, activation complete. Scanning host information. Generating template. Template application in progress. Ding, application successful."
"Ding, issuing initial quest: The Free Crown Prince."
"The Free Crown Prince: A prince without personal freedom is no different from livestock. Fight for your freedom. Participate in the Orc war, command a unit, and earn merits. Reward: Language Proficiency."
Arthas opened his system panel, which displayed not only his detailed stats but also the quest log.
"Arthas: Race: Human. Age: 14. Status: Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Lordaeron (can mobilize armies under 500). Class: Warrior/Paladin. Spouse: None. Reputation: 100."
Stroking his chin, Arthas focused on the reputation stat, triggering a detailed explanation.
"Reputation represents a character's fame. Higher reputation grants better discounts in trade and communication with various races. Some races require a certain reputation level before interaction is possible. Boosting your reputation is never a bad idea."
Reviewing his class options, Arthas opted for the Paladin specialization. Warriors were fierce in battle, but Paladins were better for self-promotion and persuasion. As a prince, using the Holy Light to elevate his prestige wasn't excessive, was it?
To join the war, he needed a suitable class and specialization. Each class had three specializations: damage, defense, and healing. After brief consideration, Arthas chose the safest path-Paladin: Protection.
"Ding, confirming Protection specialization. Once selected, specializations cannot be changed. Please confirm."
"No respecs? That's kinda scummy!"
Arthas was stunned—this wasn't how it worked in the game! Well, of course not. In the game, you could only drool over women, but in reality, you could play with all kinds. The thought of women invigorated him. Talk of protecting world peace or vanquishing evil bored him, but waging war to conquer more females? Now that was a topic to keep him wide awake—and very enthusiastic!
Imagining the muscular, six-pack-abdomen, thick-thighed, slender-calved Female Orcs, Arthas grew excited. What could be more thrilling than capturing the enemy's females? Female Elves? Female Dragons? Female Dwarves? Female Gnomes? Children might worry about exhaustion, but adults? They'd take them all!
"Confirm!"
Hum! A surge of radiant Holy Light erupted from Arthas, its brilliance filling the banquet hall, even the castle unable to contain it. Every guest, noble, and guard present stared in awe at their prince, Arthas!
A fair-skinned maiden with a healthy glow, rosy cheeks, almond-shaped eyes, delicate brows, and a small, ever-smirking red lips gazed at her friend in astonishment. Judging by her looks, wasn't this the ultimate 'daddy-selling' filial daughter, Jaina? A perfect match for the original Arthas—one a patricide, the other a paternal betrayer! Yet, undeniably, she was stunning!
