Prologue

Many years ago, animals and humans lived among their respective species and couldn’t communicate. Animals were companions, friends, and tools. Some humans loved their animal counterparts, but others didn’t think much of them. It was a cruel relationship, thanks to those who didn’t view animals as anything other than soulless beings.

The First Ones saw this imbalance and allowed animals to stand equal with humans by calling forth a unique comet. This comet passed over the world and changed animals from furry, four-legged friends to two-legged humanoid beings. This allowed them to communicate with humans, and having been given rational thought, animals were no longer ruled by their instincts. In time, this tribe of animals even gave themselves a name to separate themselves from the beasts who hadn’t been changed: shifters.

The shifters approached their human counterparts, eager to build relationships and communicate as equals, but many humans didn’t view them as such. Humans began capturing the shifters, forcing them into slavery and bending them to their will despite the emotional turmoil it caused the new tribe. When it was discovered that the shifters could breed and create new, stronger animals, the Hunter Tribe got an idea - a horrible, ugly idea.

The Hunters began forcing the most territorial, aggressive animals to breed and create offspring, not knowing what these children would become. In time, the new creatures turned vicious. They began killing the humans and shifters, unable to differentiate between good and evil. The Hunter Tribes were tasked with wiping out these new creatures, creatures the humans began calling hybrids.

Because the Hunters caused the problem, they were exiled and forced to live in seclusion, where they spent their entire lives learning to kill shifters. These tribes were unable to join human society until every hybrid was gone. Hunters taught their children to fear shifters and that they were the real evil in the world, and, in time, the Hunters forgot why the war on shifter kind even began.

Our story begins with two children: Remi and Ezra - two children from different worlds, determined to live their lives without the interference of others. After all, why should the stars dictate their future when they can do it themselves?

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...

Rodela: I have been reading in Inkitt for quite some years now, but this is the 2nd time I am reading a story as well knitted as this one.
