Prologue

Thank you for reading this book. I’m not a writer. In fact, I’m not even someone who is naturally grateful. If you were to ask others, they might call me a pessimist. So, it’s a bit ironic that I’m writing a book about having a grateful heart. But here I am, and this book is about learning to give thanks—something I never thought I would do.

The truth is, I’ve had my share of painful experiences. And when I look back, I can hardly believe that I’ve come to a place where I’m able to give thanks to God for each of them. But as I wrote this book, I was able to reflect on my life in a new way. I started to see how God has worked in my life, even through the difficult and painful moments.

I’m still new to this thing called life, but I hope that, by sharing my story, I can help someone else find reasons to be grateful too. I want to encourage you to look beyond the surface of your circumstances, to see the bigger picture, and to discover the ways God is working—even when things seem hard.

This story is a testimony of how, through the good and the bad, gratitude can be found. And I hope that, through my journey, you can find reasons to be thankful for your own.
