Dancing Lullabies
She lay upon a bed of leaves under a towering canopy of trees. She has always known the truth behind why the moon shines so bright and why the star twinkle in the night. These secrets are as ancient to her as the blooming of a century plant, as the reason why everything must die. When darkness comes and daylight fades innocence is given in the coming of birth, clean and pristine under an early morning sun. Future years of life crumple up in crevices filled with the wisdom of the ages, collected from the past as she falls prey to ever singing winds ...and dancing lullabies.
She made the woods her home and called the trees her throne. The sun and moon and stars, the blue of the sky that hung overhead, the green of the earth, the black of the night were the only colors she had ever known. For so long she dwelt within its embrace that if she claims any other such place it would rend the spirit from the woods. The whispering breath of earth’s echoing tunes murmured lullabies that danced in her mind’s eye telling of faraway places where songs become ...alive in the wind.
She had little time left to think on her youth, of how she wishes to make her presence known before she grew too young to be remembered. She waits among trees and under the leaves for a sound; a chorus of echoing voices telling her to throw caution into dancing. Sung by kindred winds calling out to her soul, ancient spirits sooth her heart into the Forever where she yearns to rest her weary head. It is there in the everlasting far above her woods where ancient bone pays no mind to youthful slips so the young will never have to die old. It is where days are counted with wishes fulfilled, where nights are claimed by a resplendent choral, awash with the joy of ever singing winds ...and dancing lullabies.
