BONES OF UNSPOKEN VOWS I
False Prophecy
Today I saw the unseen The statue afar from me began to bleed. Its blood bloomed into an unearthly creature that made my eyes lay onto his.
I thought the sky bent lower for us, as if the air itself whispered approval. I reached out, not with hands, but with every prayer I’d ever buried.
He stood untouched, a god carved from the bones of longing. His shadow flickered like a promise. I mistook that flicker for warmth.
But my dream came to a halt when I realized I was at fault. The fire breathing in his eyes wasn’t for me, but a depiction of mine.
