Chapter One - "The Voice That Was Never Heard

"The world had forgotten how to sing."

Beneath a sky veined with silver fractures, the once-golden capital of Kronic Kingdom lay hushed. Its towers stood tall but hollow, like organs that no longer breathed. Winds swept through broken stained glass windows, carrying not music but dust. Every note, every chord, every whisper of harmony...gone.

And in the center of it all, high atop the ivory spire of the old Conservatory of Echoes, stood a girl whose voice no one remembered.

Her name was Crystal.

She stood barefoot upon a balcony that overlooked a thousand silenced rooftops, her silver hair drifting like pale smoke in the twilight breeze. Her eyes, a luminous opal hue, were wide open...but her heart was locked tight, behind layers of memory she dared not disturb.

For Crystal had not always been silent.

Once, long ago, she had sung...not with training or technique, but with truth. Her voice was light given breath, color wrapped in sound. As a child, she had woken sleeping trees with lullabies, made rivers pause with humming, and healed wounded spirits with nothing more than melody.

But that was before the silence came.

Before he came.

🎼🎼🎼🎼

The bells of the city no longer rang. The music halls lay in ruins, and where orchestras once tuned, now only shadows lingered. People no longer hummed to themselves. Mothers no longer sang to children. The world had agreed, wordlessly, to bury its voice.

All because of him: Maestro Nocturne, the Lord of Silence. Once the greatest composer of the Kronic Court, his pursuit of the “Perfect Song” had torn reality. In seeking to erase imperfection, he had unraveled music itself. And with it, the hearts of those who had once lived by rhythm and rhyme.

Crystal’s voice had been the last to survive.

And the first to be hunted.

🎼🎼🎼

She clutched her coat tighter as the wind rose. Somewhere far below, in the ruins of the Opera of Stars, a whisper curled upward like forgotten smoke.

“Do you still remember the melody?”

She froze.

It wasn’t real. Just an echo, surely. A dream clinging to the last harmony of dusk. But something within her ached, like an unplayed violin straining against its own strings. Her hand drifted to her chest, to the pendant of prismglass hanging over her heart. It shimmered, faintly.

She hadn’t sung in years.

Not since the Night of Fracture, when the notes turned to knives and Nocturne’s shadow swallowed her home. That night, her lullaby had almost broken the curse.

Almost.

And so, she had run.

Into the deep wilds. Into realms where music had never been written. Into forests that whispered in green instead of chords. There, she’d hidden. There, she'd buried her voice.

But tonight felt different.

🎼🎼🎼🎼

A storm brewed on the horizon....not of thunder, but of silence. A thick wall of stillness that blotted out even the rustle of leaves. A dead tide. It moved like breath held too long.

And at its center, riding its hush like a conductor’s baton, was the shadow of a man in a decaying coat. His hands, blackened by ink and time, held a violin strung with silence.

Nocturne had returned.

And this time, he had come to end the voice he had once failed to extinguish.

🎼🎼🎼🎼

Crystal took one breath.

Just one.

And in that moment, a single note escaped her lips. It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t beautiful. But it was real. The first sound to break the stillness in years.

And across the kingdom, something stirred.

A string hummed in a forgotten attic.

A cracked harp wept in the ruins of a temple.

A marionette’s golden thread twitched deep in the velvet shadows of the opera.

The world heard her.

And it remembered.
