Prologue-Athea

What could I do?

There was nothing I could do. I came to that conclusion a long time ago when I was thrown before the new rulers of my home planet, Shaques, just for being different.

It almost felt like ancient times where witches were burned.

“Athea, you are hereby accused of conspiracy with the Enemies, with crimes included but not limited to interstellar travel without proper government authorization. How do you plead?”

“Not guilty,” I said, my violet eyes drifting the guard who held a spear, his face covered with a mask, hiding his true emotions. “I have worked with the Stellerlaunch for a long time and have never committed any type of crime or fraud. I am qualified to hold secret information, yet have I never committed any kind of fraud. I do believe I am being framed.”

“You, my dear Athea, are accused of these crimes and although there has been subtle evidence, we convict you of the crimes. Normally,” the only voice of reason, Theta, said, her voice rather calm despite the atrocities I was being accused of, “these crimes would require your death. But since there could be a possibility of you really not committing these, we are simply banishing you.”

“From Shaques?!” I cried, struggling against the guards. Death would have been more suitable. Earth was no longer a habitable planet, which is why many humans migrated to Shaques before the utter destruction of the planet.

Theta raised her chin, her beady blue eyes staring down at me. “Not back to Earth, dearie. To Eden.”

My stomach dropped to the tenth floor of my body. “E-eden?”

The tremor in my voice gave way to the fear deeply instilled within me. Eden was the planet which the Enemies inhibited.

“Please, don’t!” I launched myself from the guards’ arms, on my knees before the authority, begging for my life. This was basically a death sentence. “I won’t survive there!”

“You conspired with them,” Theta said, her eyes refusing to meet mine any longer. “If you truly did, I suppose then we’ll find you alive within a year, huh?”

A strand of my abnormally white hair fell by my right eye as I slowly began to understand my fate.

They had already made up their minds. They were convinced that I had worked with their Enemies.

I hung my head as I was picked up by the guards, but with the last bit of dignity I had left, I brushed their hands off and walked myself to the exit doors of the Leaders’ room.
