Summary

‘Love isn’t always gentle. Sometimes it’s raw, fierce, and terrifying. But with Haden, even the fear felt like home.’ HADEN There isn’t much I wouldn’t do for my brother. Manipulating the woman who holds his fate — our fate — in her hands, pushing us beyond the role of her reapers into something darker, something far more dangerous. Love? No. Not love. Never love. She was supposed to be dead. She is dead. That’s what I keep telling my brother. I’m just playing the long game. She’s dead. MARA Destruction is addicting, and he feeds me such pretty poison, I can’t help but swallow it whole. He’s my pretty reaper on a bloody leash — my angel of death and havoc. I know what love is, and I know it’s not this. But this? This feels like drowning in sweet venom, and I’m not sure I want to come up for air. He’s made me question everything I thought I knew about right and wrong, about the lines between love, lust, possession, and passion. It’s all the same. Some just leave lingering effects. Others leave me shaking in fear.

CONTENT WARNING

This story is just a re-write, and it's also very long.

It's one of the first stories I wrote.

Haden has always had such a chokehold on me, he's probably my favorite character ever written. I gave him so many issues, so many toxic traits - pitch black before knowing what pitch black was. This character gives me the free range to write a character unhinged and unforgiving.

I wanted to write characters that had escaped 'death' but are all somehow interlinked. Fateful, havoc, fate.

That red string that ties people and how it twist and knots, bleeds and hurts, but that bond, that string, it never breaks.

Haden & Mara are toxic for each other. They'll do things that should have people running from their partner, but neither of them do.

Please read trigger warnings and no, this is not a romance. It's more trauma bond than anything, with some semi nice moments. Doesn't cancel out Haden's character though.
