The Hollow Throne Book 1 : Beneath The Veil

Summary

He was sent to kill a threat. He brought her back instead. Now the Veil is shifting—and something buried is starting to wake. Nimya was supposed to be collateral. A mortal girl, found near a supernatural breach and marked by a scent not quite human. Commander Ryn of the Sentinarchs—god-born, oath-bound, and feared even by his own—should’ve followed protocol. Instead, he dragged her across the Veil. Now bound to a divine soldier she doesn’t trust, Nimya finds herself trapped inside the Sanctum—a sacred fortress of rituals, relics, and bloodlines that see her as a threat. But something else sees her too. When Ryn touched her, the Veil stirred. Something ancient is watching from the other side. Something chained beneath the world—restless, patient, and searching for someone. As divine politics fracture and the Sanctum begins to turn, Nimya must survive a realm built to reject her… and a bond that was never meant to form. Because if the Veil falls, what’s trapped beneath it won’t stay buried. And gods will burn before it stops looking.

Prologue - Before the Veil

There was a time before the Veil. Before borders were carved by gods. Before silence became law.

I don’t remember it. Not in the way memory should be held—warm, direct, alive. But in pieces. In the spaces between breath and blood. In the pull of the air before a storm breaks. In the hush that follows a scream that never came.

I was born long after the world cracked open. Long after the first war tore the realms apart. Long after the last gods gave up divinity and bound themselves in flesh to hold the balance.

They called us Sentinarchs. Ten divine beings, sealed and sworn. Peacekeepers. Executioners. Veilwardens. Born not to rule—but to keep.

Keep the boundary. Keep the silence. Keep the truth buried beneath our feet.

I was never meant to question it. I am the Commander of the Sentinarch Order. The latest in a line that only ever holds one at a time. My blood remembers things my mind has no words for.

Every morning, I touch the Veilstone. Feel its pulse. Its warning. Its patience.

The Sanctum runs because I do. Thom commands the field. Kael guards the hidden. The bloodlines beneath me move like memory—trained, broken, rebuilt. They keep the fire lit. They keep the Veil sealed. They keep the old stories in the shadows where they belong.

The world we guard does not thank us. The humans do not know. The supernaturals do not care. But I remember what the Veil hides. I remember what silence was built to contain.

We were not made for love. We were made for thresholds. For standing in the space between disaster and the last breath of stillness.

But lately… The Veil has begun to hum in a way I do not recognize. Not fracture. Not tremble. But something deeper. Lower. Older.

Something is stirring. And I did not see it coming.

None of us did.

Not until it was too late.

author

This isn’t the kind of story you skim through — it grabs you, drags you into its rhythm, and refuses to let go. The writing has a raw honesty that makes the characters breathe, like they’re people you’ve known or maybe shadows of yourself you don’t always acknowledge.

The pacing works in waves — moments of intensity followed by quiet reflection — and that balance makes the impact even stronger. What I respect most is that the author isn’t playing it safe. This book dares to feel, to bleed, to shine light in places most writers would avoid.

It’s not just entertainment, it’s resonance. A reminder that stories at their best aren’t about escape, they’re about recognition. This one is crafted with fire, and it leaves a mark.

Also, I bet the software is causing a problem with the Spaces between SENTENCES and not the words as someone unfairly commented. If you don't believe it, look to the left of the comment bank. There are no space between The colons and the next sentence, when you copy and paste things into the site. It accidentally removed some spaces or indentures. So please can the site administrators check about that. This literary art should have a stain for something it didn't actually do. I tried posting an article and it formatted and changed my indentures. So you do you boo boo and keep blowing us up with this amazing content!
