Chapter 1 - Welcome
The Player (you)
You blink in confusion as you look around. Where am I? It seems like you’re in a carnival of some kind, but have no memory of coming here, or how you got here in the first place. The wood under your hooves creak slightly, and there’s multicolored blue and red lights that flicker and glow above you. The ground is sickly sweet and sticky in random places, and you see what looks like cotton candy in the corner of the room. The walls are striped red and gold-yellow, and look like their covered in dust. You squint at a sign above you, covered in dirt and half-falling apart, but you can make out the words written in faded gold letters: Unity Carnival. So this is a carnival. You look around, and you catch a flicker of movement on a ledge above you. You squint, catching sight of gold feathers that glow a bit, but they vanish around a corner as quickly as they appeared.
“Um, hello?” You call, trying to spot the gold feathers again. “Is someone there?”
Something shifts on the ledge, but no one answers you. You frown, then start walking towards it. You stop, thinking for a moment. Is it really a good idea to follow some random pony in this strange place? A low tapping sounds upstairs on the ledge, like a set of hooves walking across the wood of the floor. You prick your ears, straining to locate the source of the tapping, and are confused when you realize it’s coming from behind you, opposite the ledge where you saw the glowing golden feathers. Whoever is behind you is not whoever was up on that ledge.
