A Lesson Learnt
"I found this story to be truly spell binding. A very well written piece, and a brilliant piece of story telling. Love the narrator being in the 3rd person. I enjoyed the build up as well. A excellent story I completely recommend!"
Old World Gothic Vintage in a New Bottle
""A House in Miller's Ledge" is a fantastic story in the great American tradition of Hawthorne or even Shirley Jackson. The author does a great job of getting the historical details just right so that we believe in this world, yet it never feels like a history lesson (all too common with historical fiction). There's a folktale like inevitability in this story, so that you know what's coming and aren't surprised by the outcome, and yet the way the story is told makes it exciting and new. Indeed, the writing is brilliant throughout, very poetic yet with a "by the hearth" old-world style. The story moves at a ferocious clip that belies its length and you miss so many fine details on a first read. This is a tremendous story and very original on Inkitt: please read and enjoy it! Must read more by this author!"
Beautifully Written, Nice Sinister Twist
"This was an excellent short story. It isn't often that I find myself liking second-person point of view, but you did an exceptional job with this. Your prose is eloquent, but not overdone. Each word flowed seamlessly into the next. I would watch out for run-on sentences in some cases though, as well as punctuation errors (the odd period and apostrophe was missing, though maybe three or four, in total). This was an excellent tale with an age-old moral lesson, and while I'm not religious, I enjoyed this immensely."
