PREFACE
For most of my adult life I have enjoyed survivor type shows.Les Stroud, Bear Grylls, Dual survivor, with so many different survivors.Cody Lundin, Joe Teti, Matt Graham, Dave Canerbury. Naked and afraid, and I’m sure a lot of others that I can’t remember at this time. My favorite was always the ones done by Les Stroud.I enjoyed Les most of all because he truly put himself in the situations, he was filming.I’ll say that again, he was filming.He didn’t have a film crew out there with him.In fact, there is more than one episode where he makes fun of the fact that most of his work during the day is moving cameras.Then came the show Survive Alone Competition (SAC).Every season it’s on I can’t wait to see who the contestants are and the items they bring for surviving.It’s a show about surviving, but also a contest to see who can last the longest.The first 10 seasons were all filmed in locations in Canada.The beginning of their time in the wilderness always starts just a few weeks before winter starts to set in.Each contestant is given camera equipment to set up and film themselves.I really enjoy the show and often dream of how long I could last out there if only given the chance.But in the back of my mind always realizing that it would never happen.I’m not a survivalist at all.More of an armchair coach of survivalist.Not to mention the medicines that I take and the CPAP that I have to sleep with.Reality is, I would never be allowed, with all that crap being necessary for me to live.That is until fate dealt me a wonderful hand!
