Summary

Tessa Wellen is a avid lover of horses, her parents own a stable and she has known them since birth. She has trained and ridden many horses. Her primary horse, Jigsaw, died just a week ago and she is grieving. But a new horse is coming, and his name is Challenger. He arrives on a cold morning in January, and she is drawn to him because of his resemblance to Jigsaw. But Challenger is nothing like Jigsaw. She must learn how to handle him and work with him, for he is unlike any horse she has ever dealt with. This is the first book in the Horses of a Lifetime series.

Prologue

Challenger. That was his name, and it suited him well. He could make me scream, cry into my pillow, and he could in general be an utter nightmare.

But I couldn't help loving him.

My name is Tessa, and my family owns Star Run Stables. I love horses, being immersed in them since birth. I've tended to, trained, and loved to death many horses, all of which I remember. All had their quirks, their stories. But Challenger was special, one of a kind.
