Preface

Preface

As the summer of 1150 AB begins, the following telling of events spans back over a thousand years. First, however, I shall let you know more about the author of this text.

My name is Lagido Mack. I come from Aurelian parents, but I was born in Hispania. My father was a merchant who sailed the Soathing Sea for many years. Along with him I went, journeying to the eastern deserts, the southern jungles, and on a few occasions, the northern mountains.

During my youth, I learned a great many things. Different cultures, languages, and, more importantly, history. Upon my father’s death and my brother’s inheritance of all his rights, I decided to make this learning a life goal. So, I packed what belongings I had and sailed from Italia to study in an Aurelian monastery. For many years, this was my life, and I witnessed many great things. The Capitol, Castle Aurelia, was my home for some time, but the world of politics is difficult, and I soon found myself riding to the solemn north.

Once I found a new monastery to call home, I decided I had learned a good deal of knowledge and decided not to risk losing it to old memory. “Kingdoms’ Tales” is but one of many histories I have scribed. Like this, some are brief, but some are vast and detailed greatly. I have sworn more than one oath to the Savior to tell the story of modern times, and by his grace, I shall live long enough to do so.
