Clever Little Space Tale
"I felt it was a bit too short, like something was missing. But over all, I liked it. Being a reformed drunk myself, I can surely appreciate the value of positive fate. I also liked the reference to Dan Simmons's treeship the Yggsdrasil. The way things turned out for our sauced hero was the clever part; "Why don't people eat the insides and live in them, then?" At first I thought he was gonna get strung-up for some form of heresy. But no; he ends up running the place. Pretty cool! In my younger years, I'm sure I would have tried this Space Lightening. Wonder where I would have landed?."
A joke
"Too short to be taken seriously as a contest entry. As to be expected with a story of such a small word count, nothing is developed to satisfaction, not even the ‘punchline’. I wasn't amused by the humor. I wasn't transported into the world. I wasn't impressed by the writing."
