PRETTY IN Pink chapter 1: The List
INT. PARIS' BEDROOM - NIGHT
The room is dimly lit, cluttered with schoolbooks, a pink hoodie on the chair, and a half-eaten pack of chin chin on the table. PARIS ADENIRAN (15), tall, dark-skinned, with natural hair in a puff, stares at herself in the mirror. Her eyes are tired. Her lips are pressed.
From outside the room:
YOUNGER BROTHER (O.S.)Paris! Mummy said make you off the gen o!
Paris ignores him. Her hand trembles as she picks up a pink marker and writes on a whiteboard:
"STEP 1: Be noticed."
She caps the marker slowly. She stares at the board, where other steps are already written:
Step 2: Glow up
Step 3: Join the Pink Table
Step 4: Date Jaden
Step 5: Rule Luxbridge
She exhales.
PARIS (V.O.)For three years, I walked the halls of Luxbridge like a fucking ghost. They didn’t see me. But they will. Starting tomorrow, they’ll see everything.
INT. LUXBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL - MORNING
Paris walks into school in her usual neutral outfit — simple jeans, regular top, no makeup. No one notices her. Students bump into her like she’s invisible.
INT. CLASSROOM - DAY
Paris sits quietly in the middle row. The teacher calls roll. Nobody reacts to her name. Not even a glance.
During lunch, she sits alone. She watches Naomi walk past her table laughing with two boys. Jaden is sitting with the basketball team.
INT. BASKETBALL COURT - AFTER SCHOOL
Paris waits by the gate. Jaden walks by. Their eyes meet. He nods slightly. Paris opens her mouth to speak—
NAOMI (O.S.)Jay! Wait up!
He turns. Naomi grabs his arm, laughing loudly. They walk away. Paris looks down.
INT. PARIS' BEDROOM - NIGHT
She stares at herself in the mirror again. Frustrated. Angry.
She grabs her pink marker and finally writes:
Step 1: Be noticed.
She stares at it. Long. Determined.
PARIS (V.O.)I tried being normal. Quiet. Invisible. It got me nowhere. Tomorrow, I start over.
INT. LUXBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL - NEXT MORNING
The campus gleams with glass and steel. Students walk around in designer shoes and polished braids. Laughter. Snaps. Gossips. Luxury.
Paris walks in wearing lip gloss, a pleated pink skirt, and a tied pink top. Heads turn.
RANDOM GIRLIs that... Paris Adeniran?
RANDOM BOYDamn. She switched up.
INT. CLASSROOM - DAY
Paris walks in late. The teacher doesn’t say a word. She walks straight to her seat. Students watch her with curiosity and judgment.
Naomi (16), beautiful and icy, side-eyes Paris from the front.
NAOMI (to Arya)She looks like a mosquito in blush.
ARYA (whispering back)Yet somehow, she's still trending.
INT. CAFETERIA - LUNCH
Paris walks alone with her tray. She eyes the Pink Table. HENESY, ARYA, and SYMON sit like royalty. They look up as she approaches.
HENESYYou lost?
PARISMaybe. Or maybe I’m just finally heading in the right direction.
Arya raises a brow. Symon smirks. Henesy stares.
SYMONShe’s got some lip on her.
HENESYSit down before I change my mind.
Paris sits. Girls across the room gasp.
INT. BASKETBALL COURT - AFTER SCHOOL
JADEN (16), tall, fine, focused, wipes sweat from his brow. Paris watches from the bleachers. He glances up. Their eyes meet. For a second, it’s just them.
Naomi walks in.
NAOMIHey, J. You were on fire out there.
Jaden looks away from Paris.
JADENThanks.
Naomi smirks, grabs his collar, and kisses him—full vampire kiss, deep and dramatic. Jaden doesn't pull back. Paris sees it all. Her heart drops as she quickly looks down, face burning.
INT. PARIS' ROOM - NIGHT
Paris wipes off her makeup. Her little brother knocks.
BROTHERYou think changing your face will make people like you? They still know who you are.
Paris sighs.
PARISGood. Let them watch who I become.
She walks to her board. Picks the marker. Checks off:
☑ Step 1: Be noticed.
She draws a new one underneath:
Step 6: Destroy Naomi.
