Prologue
Those That Belong to the Night…
“Dreams and nightmares are not two separate faces of reality; they are a single being breathing within the same body. As the pages turn, the reader begins to realize this: not every dream we see belongs to us, and every fear we suppress eventually finds its own language.
Dreams do not belong solely to sleep; they transform while we are awake, seep into thought, and echo within the body. Sometimes they are a warning, sometimes a refuge, and sometimes an inevitable confrontation.
This narrative does not speak of the innocence of dreams, but of their dangerous honesty.
But what if reality itself is nothing more than an illusion?
What if a nightmare is the mind’s way of keeping itself alive?
While walking the thin line between consciousness and the unconscious, this book leaves the reader alone with one question:
Do you truly want to wake up, or are you simply searching for a better dream?”
…
Welcome to my book.
In this narrative, you will descend into the depths of the human mind and witness what it is capable of seeing. Yes, you heard that right. In each chapter, I recount and interpret the dreams and nightmares I have experienced, expanding upon them as I write. In the future, I also plan to draw inspiration from the unsettling nightmares of my friends.
I am not a professional writer. I simply write, in my own way, about the themes I love.
About the book:
NOCTURNE
Literally means “of the night.”
Its origin comes from Latin (Nox / Noctis) and later passed into French.
Since everything in this book consists of the nightmares that haunt my mind at night, I wanted to name it Those That Belong to the Night. Each chapter is a separate and original narrative. They are not connected to one another unless explicitly stated otherwise.
The dominant themes are generally horror and psychological tension. All character names are kept anonymous for privacy reasons; instead, names are taken from French.
I would be happy to receive your suggestions and comments.
