Foreword
This is a story I have had in my mind for a long time. I did a ton of research, and yes, I know that some terms may be redundant (I know the Kom’Rk and Gauntlet are the same, I did that to differentiate the roles for new readers). I also must acknowledge that I do not own any of the properties in this story, save for Suv’In and Kai’Lin and Clan Va’Rtis. These two characters are of my own design. It is not my intent to make any money off of this. It is merely fan fiction and have sought no monetization of this on my own, and will refuse any except from the originators of the source material. If I’m being honest though, I would give them the story just to see it brought to life.
I would like to thank FASA, the original creators of BattleTech, which brought me many hours of joy during my younger years, and formed a bond with my best friend at the time. We would pour over manuals to the point that we no longer had to look at the tables to calculate our to-hit rolls. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You.
I would also like to thank George Lucas and LucasArts. Without their creation of Star Wars, Mandalorians would not exist. I have been fascinated by them since the first time I saw Boba Fett walk into a scene, many years ago, in the conference room on Bespin. Sir Jeremy Bulloch portrayed the character perfectly, and captivated my imagination on their culture from day one.
Lastly, but definitely the most important people I would like to thank are my friends and family. Yes, I know this is rather cliché, and they, for the most part, don’t share my love of the franchises at all. Still, they gave me the encouragement I needed to continue writing even when I knew I should take a break. So I popped an Aleve and got back to it.
The concept for this came to me merely out of curiosity. I was looking for manuals for BattleTech online and came across a Star Wars RPG manual, from what I can tell was from the same time I was playing BattleTech, that contained the stats for Mandalorians. So, I started doing some weaponry comparisons. They were surprisingly similar with what weapons and stats each universe had. So, as is the custom with today, I ran the manuals through an AI and did a comparison. I fully expected them to not be comparable at all. I was totally surprised when it told me that they were surprisingly compatible. Doing more research, I figured out that in a straight up fight, Mandalorians would not stand a chance against Clans. In a prolonged war however, that is where the tables would turn. It was 50/50 for both in a prolonged war depending on varying factors.
Yes, I know the two should never meet. Star Wars does say it is In a Galaxy Far Far Away. And the universe is pretty big. So who is to say they could never meet? And what if they did, stumbling upon one of the most war based culture in the Star Wars Galaxy? I had to explore it. And so, Mando-Tech was born.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I highly recommend you read them in order to get the full impact of the stories.
