Chapter 1 - A close bond
With the sun shining through the curtains a young boy sleeps peacefully on the bed until a young girl about the age of ten, the same age as the boy, storms into the room and opens the curtains and opens her mouth to speak “Good morning, sleepyhead!” she shouts, and a smile appears on her face as she speaks, he starts to stir in his sleep and then yawns “Give me five more minutes Clare, please...can you do that?“ As he speaks, he stirs a bit more and pulls the blanket higher up his body. She frowns as soon as she notices this. “You can’t just stay in bed all day...wake up now or I am going to drag you out of bed!” she says with frustration in her voice. He continues stirring in the bed and suddenly sits up, he glances at her while rubbing his eyes and wiping the tiredness off his face “Okay...I am awake...you happy?” he groaned as he stretched his arms “I was really hoping on dragging you out of bed” she giggles, and her smile widens. He starts to move and sits on the side of the bed, blinking a few times and yawning “You really are something...aren’t you?” She lets out a laugh, a huge smile appears on her face “Let’s go and hang out” He yawns once again, and a frown appears on his face. “Let me just eat breakfast first” he said and stood up from the bed and walks over to her “Let’s go” she smiles and grabs his hand, leading him to the kitchen. When they arrive in the kitchen, he takes a sandwich from the fridge and take a bite of the sandwich “You know, even if I eat this same sandwich everyday...this one tastes better” he chuckles and finishes the sandwich “You know what...I really like having you around Clare, you make everything seem brighter...and more...um...fun” he looks like he is about to say more but hesitates “Umm...and...umm...I like you, well in a friendly way of course” he lets out a nervous laugh. Upon hearing this she smiles “I like you too” he smiles back “Let’s go outside” she nods and takes his hand, leading him out of the house. Once they arrived outside they came to a playground and went on the swings “So…how’s your summer going?” He asks “Well as always…it is fun..but only when you are around” he chuckles a bit at her response “Yeah, I would find it boring too if you weren’t here with me” she smiles “And besides I can’t wait to go back to school…they say that the new class is going to be fun and enjoyable” she nods in response “I heard so too” she looks up at the sky “I love spending time with you, you know that?” He gives her a lighthearted laugh in response “Yeah…I know” he smiles and a soft sparkle in his eyes could be visible as he looks at her “I love spending time with you too” she smiles and stops swinging, she walks over to him and he stops swinging too “You are a great friend” she then suddenly hugs him, he hugs her back and buries his face into her shoulder “I hope we never get separated…ever” she nods and smiles a bit “I hope so too, Kenji”. She buries her face into his shoulder and holds him tightly to her. “Let’s always stick together…no matter what” he nods at her words “Yes…let’s do that”.
