Summary

She left Cedarfall chasing a dream. She never planned on coming back. Ten years ago, Nora Miller walked out of Cedarfall, Colorado — and out of Carter Williams’ life — without a real goodbye. She told herself it was the right choice. She told herself she’d forget him. She was wrong on both counts. Now her grandmother is in the hospital, the family inn is falling apart, and the only contractor in town is Carter — older, quieter, and even harder to read than she remembered. He’s willing to fix the inn. He’s not willing to forgive her. And Nora can’t blame him, because the secret she left with is one she’s never told a soul. Forced together by a renovation deadline and a town that never forgets anything, Nora and Carter find themselves circling the wreckage of what they were — and something neither of them dares to name. But when Carter uncovers a piece of Nora’s past she buried long ago, every wall she built comes down at once. Some things can’t be renovated. Some things have to be rebuilt from scratch.

Dedication

For you.

The one who stayed when it would have been easier to go.

The one who chose me again — and again — even when I made it hard.

This story is about second chances. You are the reason I believe in them.
