Prologue
My hands shook slightly as I stared at the now empty bottle of pills in my hands. I let it fall to the floor ignoring the hollow sound the bottle made as it collided with the cold tile of the bathroom floor. I walked slowly back to my room turning the small blade in my pocket over gently. I grabbed the envelopes from under my mattress and put them on my bedside table. I let out a short sigh as the voice in my head said ‘just do it already, quit stalling.’ nodding slightly I sat on my bed and took out the blade bringing it to the skin on my left forearm. The crimson blood began flowing almost immediately and I saw more than I felt tears rolling off my cheeks and falling onto my wrist. I set the blade down and laid back on my bed, a faint barking in the background. My eyelids grew heavy as the barking grew softer and softer. ‘Someone should really take the dog out’ I thought before being consumed by the darkness.
