Act 4. Who Has a Better Story

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

If you have the power to see what is to come. The horrors, the deaths. Will you sit and watch? Will you claim destiny through the sacrifices of others? The First People thrive on stories. They revere not only the land but history and people. What were once history are now myths, meant to excite children. When the wisdom keepers foresee what is to come. They understand stories are needed but when stories demand sacrifices…specific sacrifices, will they be strong enough to pay the price? The children of the First People are cripples. What they lack defines their worth, their strength, their capabilities. They burn the image of the first mindweaver. He Who They Must Not Be. It reminds them of their gift. Of their magic unique to their people.

Introduction

You may notice that each prologue differs greatly from the chapters that follow. Each prologue continues the prologue from the previous book.

That is intentional.

The chapters are told through a Third-Person Limited perspective, while the prologues follow an Omniscient narration. The reason for this choice will become clear as the story unfolds.

Until then, enjoy the tales he weaves.

This narrative takes inspiration after reading a post of u/whyyounohaveusername from r/WritingPrompts (Reddit):

[WP] You are a long forgotten god. A small girl leaves a piece of candy at your shrine, and you awaken. Now, you must do everything to protect your High Priestess, the girl, and her entire kindergarten class, your worshipers.
