Soldier
"I'm a good soldier
of God."
2 Timothy 2:3, KJV, says, "3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."
We are called to share and partake in sufferings for Jesus, as good soldiers of Jesus.
"I discover,
in his squad,
I shouldn't get entangled,
nor applaud
all sinful practices
which are odd."
2 Timothy 2:4, KJV, say, "4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."
Soldiers should want to please the commander, and therefore not want to waste time nor get involved in civilian affairs; so, too, must Christians, as good soldiers of Jesus Christ, avoid sinful practices and not get involved in the former ways.
Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard, but the former ways should not be applauded nor approved [As Romans 1:32 mentions, it wrong, applauding or approving of people's wicked practices, it is sinful].
Sin is odd:
Genesis 4:7, KJV: "7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him."
Doesn't sin want to attack us, crouching at the door? It therefore desires to control us, but we must rule over it. Sin is odd; sinful practices are odd; and it doesn't fit in with God and his kingdom.
Revelation 22:15, KJV: "15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."
1 John 3:8, KJV: "8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."
"I serve the King of glory,
the Lord strong and mighty,
who is mighty in battle
letting strongholds rattle."
Psalm 24:8, KJV: "8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle."
2 Corinthians 10:4, KJV: "4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)"
