♤Prologue♤
Darkness never frightened me.
I had lived with it too long.
But this—
“Hey… hello? You still alive?”
A voice drifted through the void.
Annoyingly cheerful.
My eyelids felt glued shut. I forced them apart.
Pain flared behind my eyes.
The world tilted.
A ceiling swam into view.
Did I faint?
Curtains hung to my left. A window beyond them glowed with pale light. Everything looked… unfamiliar.
“Oh! He’s waking up! Wakey wakey~!”
The same female voice. Bright. Too bright.
I groaned and blinked through the blur. Two shapes hovered above me. I squeezed my eyes shut, then opened them again until the fog thinned.
A young woman leaned over me, grinning.
“Oh! Looks like this idiot is finally up!” she announced, clapping her hands.
He?
My brow furrowed.
I’m a she.
…aren’t I?..huh?..
I jolted awake, pulling the blanket tight to my chest.
Two figures loomed over me—a young teen girl?! And a tall, pretty boy?! Both wearing uniforms, green and blue?
Where am I?!
Panic ripped through me as I scanned the room.
The girl tilted her head, pouting, one eyebrow raised—trying to look cute? Or mocking me? I couldn’t tell.
“Did it hit his head too hard? That he has amnesia?” she asked the tall boy.
He blinked once. Unreadable. Cold. Distant.
“Again—you’re calling me he–?!” My voice came out sharp, incredulous.
I grabbed at my throat. My hands trembled as they skimmed over unfamiliar curves.
Wait… my hair… short, soft, foreign. I gasped. This isn’t me…
My heart hammered. Something about this body… this form… didn’t belong to me.
I forced a breath, testing the sound as it escaped my lips—“Ah.”
I yanked a hand over my mouth.
It wasn’t too deep… not high either. A soft tenor.
My voice… it was a boy’s.
But I’m… I’m a woman.
How had I ended up in this body?
How?
What happened to me?!!!!~
I clutched my head, disoriented, as the two youngsters stared down at me like I’d lost it.
Well… guess what? I had.
