Chapter I

"Shurya! Come down and eat!" That's my big cousin. He called for me from downstairs.

I didn't answer right away since I was still getting dressed for the day. When I looked at the digital clock on my nightstand, it read 6:00. Still too early.

Then, footsteps stopped in front of my room door.

"Shurya. Still not done?" Yuya asked gently as he opened it.

He was much taller than me. His hair was yellow unlike Uncle and Auntie’s. Yuya said he “bleached” it, though I didn’t know what that meant. He also had piercings on his ears and eyebrow. I thought he looked cool.

"Still not done." I answered softly as I showed him the blouse in my grasp, struggling with the simply buttons.

Hearing that, he sighed and took my blouse from my smaller hands. He unbuttoned it, then helped me put it on. "You should really learn to do it on your own, you know?" He said. "I can't always be there for you. And you're turning seven soon."

When my head popped out through the neckline, I looked up at him and nodded.

“Okay.”

After saying that, Yuya smiled down at me and patted my head before fixing up my blouse. "There. Let's go down for breakfast."
