Why I wrote this book... As part of my journey in life, I have faced difficult times. I started writing the first book, Car to Cape Town: A Journey of Faith, Fight and Fatherhood, when I was caught in what I believe has been the most challenging time in my life - thus far. Facing unemployment and staring bankruptcy in the face, I kept on trusting God. It got even harder when my father lost job in the same time. I just kept on praying to God for help. One night at a prayer group I asked God to give me strength and direction. That night when I went to bed God gave me a beautiful analogy.

Preface

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;”

Psalm 1:1-6

Car to Cape Town is a Christian story that many families can relate to, especially men. It is about a father who takes his family on a holiday trip to Cape Town. During the trip, he realises that his responsibilities as the driver of the car are similar to those of a traditional Christian man would have towards his family. As they drive, he reflects on many of his life’s memories and the brokenness in his life that he has conquered through Jesus Christ. He reflects on his walk with God, and accepts his responsibilities as a devoted Christian father and husband. He reflects on his childhood growing up with an absent and alcoholic father, and how he ultimately made peace with the past. He strives to be an obedient traditional man in order to serve God, his wife, and his family. He knows he must safely deliver his family to their destination in Cape Town. As in life, he also wants to steer his family in the right destination, Heaven. Join the journey and experience the surprises along the way.
