Chapter 1
*Lightly Explicit*
It's been days, still in the same gear since the war started. I'm suffocating in the tall grass. My moves must be more quiet than a slithering snake. I have found a spot. After 4 hours of army crawling inch by inch I made it. I put my rifle on the mound of dirt I just packed. My fingers were trembling as each individual finger started gripping and laying on the gun, one by one in a row. (I take a long pause) I looked down and my helmet came over my eyes. I quickly tipped it back up in place. As I lay, looking at the city below me. The flashing lights lit up the night sky with fireworks and many wonders and everyone was happy. I shook my humane thoughts away. My target was in plain sight. Dancing with his daughter on her wedding day. The crowd circled around them. My speaker came on. Are you in position over?
My eyes closed and I could feel my heartbeat in my teeth. I looked down at my chest pocket and clicked the button yes. I couldn't hear that.
'Yes, sir I'm in position.'
'Take the shot.'
'Copy that, Sir' was the hardest thing I've ever said. My hands
went back onto my gun. I sighted in. Each click as I sighted was a sharp pain to my gut. As I closed one eye and the other one looked through the scope. I could feel the cold off the glass. as I took my final breath. Huuuuuup I took a breath. The air started locking in my chest. I knew when I let that out things would be different. My pointer finger vibrates on the trigger. BOOM I pulled the trigger! It connected to the target and the bullet hit his ear and his head exploded. All the blood and brain matter splattered over his daughter's wedding dress. I ducked down and just heard the whole town turn to madness. Out of everyone in the crowd I heard his daughter's voice screaming and crying. The mic sparked on. 'Hell yeah man you nailed it! Beers on me, let's go home!!!' Tears fell from my face. I took my sleeve and wiped my eyes. As my arm left my face I was in a living room with my family. A Christmas tree was tucked in the corner. I looked around not knowing what was going on. My son was saying, 'Dad... Dad!' I acknowledged. 'Dad, you didn't hear what I said!'
I asked, 'Did you like the sniper rifle bb gun I got for your one and only grandson?'
I smiled and said, 'Yes, what a fine gift indeed.
